Most use ball bearings. They are capable of end and side loads, axial and radial. All my chairs for e.g.

But I would never fit ZZ bearings You want greased for life sealed. So 2RS bearings. And preferably Stainless Steel as corrosion finishes them off before they ever normally wear.

Hello again.

I disassembled the assembly.
The bearing lacks identification numbering.
The bearing has clamping grooves.
Any idea how to find an equal one?

You have NOT given enough information for us to help you.

Provide a good quality photograph of the bearing AND it's dimensions.

Beats me. Is there 2 per side? Does the bearing large diameter go inside the caster barrel? Do the two black bits rotate independently? What are they, cannot tell from pics. Appears to be a bearing left inside the housing not yet removed?

Do you have a vernier?

https://www.aliexpress.com/i/4000912908 ... 722f41Dxod

Measure caster SHAFT diameter.
Measure castor bearing HOUSING diameter.

They will be in mm with no decimal places.

And measure the GAP between bearings when assembled in your hand.

Then we can show you what bearings and spacer will work.

@ B.M. I do not think that the bearings housing is accurately sized and the 2 black lines are actually a raised knurling or "spacer" bands adhered on the bearings O.D.

Best bet for him then is to take them to a bearing specialist on any industrial estate and ask him for similar bearings. But they wong be ebay prices...

A cheap Vernier caliper:
https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07W98YDX ... bGbR085TFN
I got one because nothing much can go wrong with it besides snapping because it's plastic. My cheap digital one that I had before, the display soon stopped working, so I swore a bit, binned it and spent even less money on one like the above. I'm sure it is despicable, but it works.

It is accurate to about a millimeter!

For a simple job thats fine. Although its also not cheap! You can get them from about 2 pounds delivered!

If you are using it once a year its OK. If you plan on using it more often, even if only for checking drill sizes or bearing sizes etc I think its worth getting a half decent digital metal one though. I use mine almost daily for one thing or another. So I bought one thats branded and lasts. And good enough accuracy for engine building.

It is a high knurling integrated into the bearing.

Never saw a bearing with a knurled part in my life. See if it can be removed.

Well you are going to need to do a few things.
Such as PROPERLY measure these to the closest milimeter. In outer diameter with and without the raised parts. Inner diameter. Width or height with the outer and the deeper inner part. And measure the inner diameter on the wheelchair where the bearing goes ACCURATELY with a vernier. And the caster stem diameter. And post here.

If that doesent help then you will need to take the bearing to a bearing speialist to see what he can suggest as a solution.

If that doesent help buy replacements from chair manufacturer $$$$

If THAT doesent help, then you will need to figure out a different solution. Its all just metal. Many ways to fix things!

If you cant do any of that post one to me here and I will measure etc. And post it back!

It can´t be removed.
It is part of the outer ring.

FOUR OF THESE.

And a 10mm spacer that is 18mm long = your 26mm. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20MM-Alumini ... SwstJZUTf~

And you are done.

If its REALLY 29mm then I think you will struggle to find them. Its not a normal/standard size.

There are 12 hole in centre 29 outside and 8mm deep. But thats probably not what you have.

Can you see why those verniers are important?

We need to know the housing inside diameter.

If its really bigger than 28, you may need something nobody makes... So you may need to use the 28mm bearings, and sit them in some of this:

They alllook the same. Look on ebay. Cheap up to 100s... But a cheap one is all you need for this. 0.1MM accuracy is enough. Metric bearings are all full mm sizes.

I agree, digital calipers are FAR easier to read, and these days are nearly as cheap as verniers... Vernier calipers (or micrometers, etc) are not easy to read w/o lots of practice... Digital calipers are far simpler and also have the advantage of being instantly switchable between inch and metric systems... Since Martin's chair is presumably EU / UK manufacture, it is probably metric, but it doesn't hurt to be able to rule out inch sizes... (Minor note, my Quickie manual chair parts book calls out an inch bearing for the caster wheels, but what is on the chair, and confirmed by calling Sunrise tech support is a metric bearing...)

While it is possible to spend hundreds of dollars on a high end (Starrett, Mitutoyo, etc) caliper, you can get cheap ones for around US$10 from places like Harbor Fright or eBay... They won't be QUITE as precise, and won't have things like resistance to coolants, USB logging, and general fanciness, but for anything we do on chairs the cheap ones are more than good enough....

I would avoid the plastic versions, as they don't hold up well, but the Chinese metal units are fine...
