Postby ira » 16 Oct 2012, 14:18

Hi:
I am looking for a doner wheel chair to build a off road wheel chair ,I am wondering what is the most suitable brand and model to start with .are any controlers usable in stock form, the chair I intend to use out doors only . I do a lot of fabrication work in my work shop ,so I am most interested in mechanical parts .I have built a 4 wheel drive chair frame from a quicki p220 as it was donated to me .thanks for input

Many stock controllers will work.
All will have crap unsteerable programming, since all stock chairs do.

And if you use different motors to the ones they were used on then you will also need OEM level software to set up the motor compensation setting correctly. Go for the biggest amp level you can find. 100 is common, 120 - a few about. Less isnt worth the bother.

Read chair specs, look at controller and identify it, look on sites like curtiss, pg drives (www.pgdt.co.uk) dynamic etc. Preferably use a cointroller that you can get hold of a low level OEM controller for.
