Well that battery can be reconnected for more series, less parallel, for more speed/volts with no loss of range or torque. And that will mean its 6mph motors, with larger diameter wheels, as fitted, will be a little faster anyway. So about 11 mph. So it does seem like a good idea.

Battery testing complete.
Discharged by 50Ah and left for 10 days.

Recharge test, all cells remain in perfect balance, and 50Ah returned at 32A recharge rate in under 2 hours. Will fit battery on Wed.

BM, can you post pics of both sides of the battery pack please, so I can see how the balance wires connect. If I see rightly, you only have them connected to 9 places on your pack.

Yes. 8S needs 9 wires...

I can take one shot of the other side, but the cell layout is very confusing!

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8

Theres a wire at each end (plus 24V and minus or 0V) and then 7 wires on every one of those hyphens above.

Tie down bolt...
Its about 1/2 inch too long! My tie down is correct when 2.75 inches or 3 inches to the shoulder of the bolt. This is only 2 here.
And I need to order a shorter one. I already waited 4 days for this... Note huge 24mm red spanner.

And the PM is mounted to the alloy plate, bolted to the seat frame under the front. I am considering adding 2 computer fans...

Checking wheel, tyre, run-out, balance & bearing seating etc, caster stem bearing preload, and finally adding the puncture seal. Because once you have there's no way to test balance for eg.

Run-out of tyre or wheel does make a difference. Caster preload does too.
Does balance "matter"? Not much if at all at 6 ot 8 mph. Unless its really bad and not central. But I use the same casters/wheel on my chairs and these are swappable. So these may end up on the 16mph chair. And then it does matter.

Anti tips fitted. 80mm inline skate wheels. 8 new stainless steel bearings. Because the new 10 inch wheels are about 30mm higher overall.

I am getting older. Now 55. And recently flipped myself out of my BM3 chair at about 8 to 10 mph over the back. So far I keep getting away with it and being rescued... But bigger wheels mean that the anti tips are affectively 30mm shorter, and higher! So may as well not be there. They may even make things worse as they lift the rear wheels off the deck preventing me from decelerating...

I would consider making your tippers closer to the ground, you can simply add two adjustable brackets to your existing original fixed brackets. That doesn't seem too difficult, and can be made not to extend the overall length, by sliding up and bolted in place. At my age 21 years older than you, tipping over like that may well create a very dangerous situation. I'm pretty sure there isn't much in my head, but I don't need to crack it open to find out.

Now rims polished, rear light fitted and converted to LED, (one of the few original F55s parts I use. But it looks better and fits the frame. So why not!

Now looking at car seating. Or rather just the back. Will keep a flat area for stock 16 to 20 inch wide cushions.

Why dont all powerchairs use fat tubeless tyres? Beats me... The car industry do. The motorcycle industry do. And now 40 years late, the powerchair home built industry do!!!

Just ordered a Cobra Sidewinder seat. There are cheaper oners but I looked at this in detail...

As below in grey/black. The back is plastic and glossy. And will have a RC reciever hidden at the top behind it. And a bright red LED as part of the lighting. And its strength and its headrest will protect me when I flip it... Backs are replacable and in many colours/carbon fibre etc.

The seat back alone is only 5.6kg according to Cobra.
The back is wider than most other car seats, because I am fat and need it wide!
The base will be sold on eBay and I will be only using the back. My usual Jay2 gel cushion (or any mobility pressure type cushion) will be used.
The back mechanism is left and right handed, and so has a adjuster each side and the mechanism is strong and doesent creep back or forward like some.
It looks pretty and thats half the reason for this chair. And if it works out well will retrofit all of my chairs to match...

If it fits... And can be dissasembled in the way I want.

Failing that it will be returned. VAT free too!

There are loads of cheap nasty heavy ones on ebay... But they are narrow, and either badly made or used. It seems to me that if you are building a new chair you should do it right. Wont arrive for 14 days as built to order. So we will see. Was tempted to get blue.

If built to order could you not have seen if they'd do the back on its own?

Couldnt get any sense out of them. They have a list of colours, back colours, suades, leathers, mixes, but if you go off the usual menu they all just look bewildered... And dont sell direct to public.

Minor question - what should we call this chair :?: It isn't really a BM4, since its not a new design, but its not the same BM2 that you started with... Should we label it the BM2A :?:

BM2v2 or BM2-L for lithium...? Or BM2-R for rebuild, or BM2-P for pose... Since the seat, colour, wheels etc are all mostly to look pretty!

Probably BM2v2

I am just checking out my Pilot Plus well used 100A unit.. All the contacts need cleaning up as they show signs oif burning. on the INSIDE and outside!

Take a look how the contacts connect battery and motos INSIDE. They just press togetheer with some foam strrips...

I am also adding a 45 degree thermostat switch. Because I am adding a fan to keep things cool. This will stop it rolling back and reducing power so soon. The best place for the tiny thermostat is inside bolted to the mosfets. But thats not easy... So will be next to them instead.
