Harmar al600 question

Postby liam » 05 Dec 2016, 00:44

I have a Harmar AL600 in a 2006 Honda Odyssey Touring edition.

My wife has a Quickie Pulse 6 SC model that weighs 270lbs and the harmar has a maximum weight is 350lbs so I know my wive's chair is not too heavy, but when it is lifting it goes very very slow.
If seems like it the motor is struggling.

We have a new battery in the van so I know the battery isn't the issue. Is it normally this slow?

Thanks for any info.

Its likely that you are using long thin (too this) cables to the lift from the battery in the van. To test you just need to get a volt meter. Measure the battery voltage while its 'slow' at the engine end. Then do the same at the lift end.

2 possibilities.
a. A new battery is no guarantee of a quality battery. Its voltage may be dragged low while lifting. Solution, buy an Odyssey... To find out MEASURE it.
b. Cables too long/thin. Your volt meter can determine this too.

Question. Is it lots faster with the engine running?
If so high resistance battery is the problem. Don't be cheap here.

Thanks for the reply.

I own an odyssey and will measure the voltage.

I did buy a higher quality battery and used the cables that were supplied with the lift.

I might just have to run to the harmar installation place here if I can find some time during the week since they are not open on the weekend and close before I get off work.
