I've been reading in depth your builds, mainly the wheel adapters to take the fat wheels as I think this is by far the best way to reduce shock and vibration. So annoying as an ex tuner by trade that I cannot access a lathe to make such parts. The machine shop I worked in for 20 years had all the materials in abundance needed for such projects as shown on this forum. So many "guvvy" jobs as we called them that we would do and now in real need of such equipment and skills yet no access at all, so frustrating!

Repeating the advice I've given many times - look for local 'maker-spaces' also sometimes known as hackerspaces or collaborative workshops.... (DuckDuck is your friend...) They vary a lot in what they have, and often it will be older "obsolete" gear (i.e. Bridgeports) but at least some have varied machine shop gear... You pay a membership and get access to the tools. I have the good fortune to be an "inmate" at the Artisan's Asylum which is one of the top spaces, but you may have a reasonably good one in your area...

Thanks for that, I may look into this if my health improves.

I have to do something as I very nearly took the plunge on a shop bought Quantum today until I thought better of it

The worst thing you can do is rush because you feel you have to. If you do that and compromise through haste a better chair or 2 will come along. Your chair was on eBay about a month or less ago and on for sale for weeks. You missed that though might not have been in the position to buy then.

It’s purely the fact I’m stuck in the house whilst in the past I’ve always had a back up option. I’m sure your right and something will turn up. :)

I'd sooner spend a couple of hundred on something that'll get you out for now if that's your predicament. You can always resell it. Offer that geezer on eBay £250 for the orange one. There's a couple of bits on it that make it worthwhile.

Originally the advert was inviting offers. He's now been on here and read it has a chance of selling and so put the price up and no offers. It's worth no more than £250 so he can keep it.

I see he's offering the chair at £600 now. Still way over priced for anything half decent on it.

Yes, I was sent the offer and asked him a few questions but no response.
One thing for sure, after scouring the internet continually for a chair, the majority is garbage!

This is an interesting one but no use as a day chair.

At the £1500 it's not bad but again it's an outdoor only chair and will no doubt need work on it to prevent it falling to dust. At £2500 it's simply not worth the arséache.

If he wants rid of it he's got little choice but to come down in price. He mentions the castor shake like it's largely immaterial but in reality it could be a world of pain. You're not telling me he hasn't even looked at trying to cure it and failed. Use some bits and bin the rest is all that's good here and therefore the price has to reflect that.
If you're not capable of working on a chair now as well, even bits aren't much good to you. You need a decent finished chair or one that could be finished for a viable cost if farming it out to someone.

500 quid, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124919143954
4 pole AMT motors, tilt etc. Be gone in about 4 hours...

Stick a set of new tyres on that and it looks new.

Note that no lights. So likely its 4mph. It COULD be 6, or 8. But unlikely.

This looks nice and clean but a 4mph chair is dangerous when trying to cross roads here!

Then keep looking.

Personally I would fit a set of 8mph motors I have here in a box, and 120Rnet I also have here in a box... Then for around 1000 total I have a good chair that looks like it never left the living room. But if you dont want, be patient! Its like fishing. When what you (and everyone else) wants crops up they are usually gone almost instantly.

Even as a backup chair for emergency use its a bargain. Everyone needs a backup chair. Or several. As a backup chair I would do nothing to it, other than configure, program, fit a set of black solid tyres that I removed from the Q700R chair, charge it and then park it out of the way with a battery connector disconnected. And charge the batteries every couple of months. You might be rpleased when you main chair fails.

I will have to keep looking even though it really looks a good deal. Sadly, I don’t have the parts or the health to upgrade. Anything

Apple stuff is hopeless. For e.g my brothers lad was trying to sign up to the lapadre rocket group on utube. Again I did it for him on my laptop as it wasnt possible with his stupid apple laptop. Its even stated on their sign up page to do it with a PC then you can go back to the iwhatever.

The forum is a standard forum used very widely across literally millions of sites. And any bugs are rapidly dealt with.

:silent:

Joystick is mounted around 5 inches too low. And tyres are all yellowed.

Yes I forgot that you mentioned this before. But the rear drive jive dont have that problem. But again, needs patience to aquire!

Remember eBay is where my last chair came from. https://www.wheelchairdriver.com/board/ ... 33#p171026
But I knew exacty what spec, and chair I wanted. And it needed to be new or almost so (demo or similar) and not used.
2 years of watching dealers and ebay and then make a daft offer a few times. And In the end you win. But it takes time. This Q700R was my 2nd choice.

1st choice never appeared. Another salsa with the CORRECT spec. Like my 1st one. I wanted a matching pair. https://www.wheelchairdriver.com/board/ ... 00#p122818

Both Salsa and Q700R needed to be lightly modded to be any good. Small changes to turn from being long unsterable half finished chairs into really pretty GOOD chairs. But initial spec is everything. Hence fishing... Dont rush.

More patience in order here! Good job it's lashing down and I can't get out anyway now.
The Q700 looks a good option if the right deal comes along.

Everything John said in his review of this Spectra Plus was so true and worse again.

That was not really a review of just the spectra but of all similar spec cheap chair alternatives. There are many. Or were. Too spindly, too nose heavy, too small and skinny tyres at both ends, fragile weak 2 pole motors, small batteries, low power electronics, abysmal stock programming and steers like its 9 feet long. And yet manages to be bigger dimensions than the BM2 chairs are.

Fixed exposure
