Postby raymondhutton88 » 20 Nov 2021, 14:00

All parts taken off a salsa R2 they have done nothing the Gentleman past on before he could use the chair and his wife approached me and asked me if I was interested in buying the chair so we agreed on a price.
I then set about taking the Motors’s,off joy stick, and main controller and Kerb climber all complete.
The motors,Controler, joystick are all programmed together.
I have taken swing away footrests off and fitted a center foot rest
All VR2. The lot £700.

I guess he means he's selling the VR2 setup plus the old 2-pole motors? £700 is pushing it for low end parts IMO.

So you are selling ??

VR2 system, with a 90A controller inc joystick?
2 pole motors? 4 or 6 mph?
Kerb climber complete with fixing bar and swing away foot rests and mudguards.

Salsa doesent have mudguards does it? Nobody will want a kerb climber, Which swing away footests?

£700. Lol. I hope you didn't buy the chair for anywhere near that price.

Hi The chair was brand new Battery charger still in box the owner past away before he could use it I am new to using power wheelchairs so I stand to be corrected about the price I am asking for the parts would £400 be better? I am not going to give them away.

I doubt that 2 pole motors will get much interest on here. And I throw away curb climbers. Maybe 7 of them so far!

Again the controller, is low end. Maybe you will get more on eBay.

Charger? All mobility chargers are rubbish. And theres hundreds of used ones, new ones, on ebay cheap. So you wont get much. I have a shelf in my garage with maybe 12 of these things from every chair manufacturer. Mostly never used. They dont fetch much on eBay so hardly worth the bother.

Your mileage may vary.

Anything pretty much "works" to charge any battery.

But a deep cycle battery has very important needs if you want to get a sensible service life. And you should care because a good deep cycle battery are damned expensive.

Mobility charger do several things wrong. Some horribly wrong. But all are pretty crap.

To charge a gel battery for e.g takes a very long time. Longer than we really have in the typical 8 hour overnight charge. Typically it takes around 12 to 16 hours at a very controlled voltage of 14.1V max (28.2) at room temperature of 20C. A mobility charger typically will give you a "green light" after 5 to 7 hours. And tell you its charged. Its not! Thy typically charge at a too low rate too. Because the chairs loom is too thin. And the connector is not very good. Although they can take more than 8A. But an 8A charger is cheaper. And thats the main thing that seems to be important! A typical mobility charger will charge your gel battery at maybe 14.4 to 14.6V instead. Thats 28.8, to 29.2V for 2 batts.

That willreduce service life aone by over a half. And the undercharging in time allows them to sulfate and that also shortens service life. So you batteries soon die. Or lose range. The manufacturers neither care or probably understand this. So you get an underpowered charger that over volts the battery and terminates charge too soon.

They are better (slightly) on AGM batteries. But while they are better they still end too soon, and are very variable. And AGMs dont last as long to begin with compared to gel.

And this is MK own data.
