F55 Hubs & wide wheel spacers No 2. Allows fitting of 145/70 x 6 wheels, 3 hole, 88 mm PCD.
The two hardened grub screws which lock into the 6mm keyway are 6 mm, and must be tightened to 200 inch pounds.

ALUMINIUM Block has the countersunk 4 holes in the wrong side?
Or the recess in the centre in the wrong side depending how you look at it.

Hope I am wrong but my experience says those grub screws are going to cause problems sooner or later. A long key one side and pointed grub screws on the other, sat in drill "points" on the shaft would be more reliable.

BM, Well spotted!
I actually photed a rejected one, as they loaded the blank the wrong way around!

I agree re theory of grub screws but that have been tested to work fine. Also, it saves the high cost of broaching a keyway now not needed, says our fab engineers.

Best,

It will definitely come back to bite you. A lifetime of doing this stuff tells me so.

You cannot load threads sideways and have repeat reversing loads and not expect problems. The threads will wear/fret and come loose. And the contact area of the three round threaded screws in rhat groove is way to small and they too will wear and also eat into the keyway in the shaft. There a lot of torque there, and on just a 20mm shaft. Even a full length flat sided key wears, and has some backlash from new due to small diameter.

And a 6mm bolt starts off slightly smaller than 6mm diameter too so has backlash built in. You are going to need a key. Or a locking collar/clamp. Or taperlock.

BM
Thanks.
We have put some through pretty arduous testing so far without mishap, but I'll pass your comments on to the fabricators and see what response we get.

Best,
