A previous pic from Shirley shows that he tried COM 3.

Shirley ... The only advice that I can give is to check for a physical problem ... i.e. Broken connections.

So .. open the box and look at the wires going in and out from the board and also check the wires inside the DB9 Socket.

Finally try a different RS232 / DB9 - USB cable.

Checked all 6 connections are good.

Plug in your lead. Joystick shows an inhibit.
Connect the other end to USB converter. Inhibit goes away. Is it normal ?

I recall the above is the last successful connection I made. I should expect the same observation , when I plug in woodygb's programming lead again , right ?
Otherwise, I still have a bad lead , right ?
Will this simple test eliminate the possibility of a bad programming lead ?

Will try it tomorrow , when I get to the chair.

Woody -

It took longer for the lead to cross the US than the Atlantic. For some reason the US Postal Service missed my place by about 2500 miles! Then the coldest weather of the season hit. Warmed up in caouple days, but found out the chair had a flat!

The lead works perfectly and Burgersmans suggestions made a huge difference! Tried a few changes and am going to turn the seat around and use it as a rear wheel drive. Have fine tunign to do, but runs great the way it is now. Could not have done it without both of you.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.-

I can make one or you can make one yourself.

Could you please add your location in the world to your profile.

How about I make you ONE , with a male 3 pin XLR and an adapter ( 3 pin female XLR ) to attach the Molex?

Now the Software is DIM and YOU will need to tell it which Com Port to use and it only recognises Com port 1-8 inclusive..

If the Com Port isn't in that range you will need to alter it.

pgdt comms.jpg

NOTE ..it may whinge... UNABLE TO OPEN SERIAL PORT ... if the correct com port isn't selected when the software starts.... select the correct port and it will be happy.

Hello everyone, does anyone have a wiring diagram for the DIN connector on the Sterling Elite XS? The Molex connector is a mod cap and the instructions label this connector as programming.
I bought the cart at a bargain price - the original owner claims that the cart ruined his new batteries in six months. I would need to check the settings.
I've attached a couple of photos

thank you for the tips

You seem obsessed with this manufacturer added DIN programming port ...why not do as I suggested in the private messages and remove the cover on the S-drive and access the 4 pin molex programming port?

Note that the DIN plug will be connected to the 4 pin molex .... it is also possible that the 3 pin XLR charging port is connected to the 4 pin Molex and thus could also be used as a programming point.

I don't know what to do anymore....
I am unable to run the program - as David1566 described above....
when I want to set the port there is a blanking see photo, I don't know how to set the FTDI manufacturer. the cable is connected, the ports can't be set (or they can, but I still can't start it)
either I have a cable wiring error - when I measure the cable, it's according to the wiring I got and read here on the forum...

That lead does NOT have an FTDI chip it has a PROLIFIC chip.

I dislike the PROLIFIC chip set as it is inconsistent and there are many chinese fakes... there are also many FTDI chip set rip offs.

However ... UNINSTALL the driver that you currently have and try this installer ... http://www.prolific.com.tw/UserFiles/files/PL23XX_Prolific_DriverInstaller_v401(1).zip

EDIT..Here is a site telling you about some of the various chip types.

From the Miklor site ...http://www.miklor.com/COM/UV_Drivers.php

It is recommended that the driver be backdated to 3.2.0.0 if:

A - A yellow warning triangle appears under 'Ports' or 'Other Devices'
B - The Prolific 'Phased Out' message appears

It also guides you through the process of installing the older working driver.

Digitus (FTDI) converter ....remind me what that looks like... or give a link to where you purchased it.

EDIT ...THIS?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Digitus-USB-DS ... B0030IT780

If so ... NO ..that is a Serial adapter.

I have 3 of those nasty Prolific cables that give the error that you have and have just now been playing with them.
I CANNOT get them to work with the MOBILITY software ...I have however managed to make them work with the INDUSTRIAL software.

I connected to a 45 AMP S-drive via the Molex , wired as shown in the bottom right of this picture.

I will give you a link to the Industrial software via P.M.
