I've been lurking these boards for a bit after getting my new Permobil chair. I really wish I'd found them before getting it and learning how inaccessible Permobil's made it to change any settings... cough :bs cough but here I am.

I have 2 questions:
    1. Is anyone currently selling an R-net dongle? OEM would be nice, but so would unicorns czy
    2. How reliable is the workaround for accessing OEM settings from a dealer-level dongle?

Feel free to PM me if that's better for you.

Theres been 3 sold on here in the last 2 months. The workaround is perfectly reliable. But not sure how reliable anything will be on a permobil as they use odd home designed parts that the generic or sunrise R-Net software cannot program. Seating and lighting electronics/modules for e.g. Same with stability or gyro modules. And worse rover tells me that on occasion he has found chairs that the generic R-Net programmers cannot write to at all. Because of bespoke permobil firmware. So your mileage may vary. Nothing garanteed with permobil I'm afraid.

If you PM me I can tell you where to buy OEM dongles from.

Looking for a dealer USB dongle to buy. Not looking to rent. Too much risk and disappointment if lost/damaged.

Why dealer? The USB one can do everything a dealer one can. And much more!

I always kept it near the PL8 or just behind it on the floor which it has been for years. Went to program saker's PM and no dongle/USB lead. :cussing My PA has looked everywhere in my room but she can't find it. :(

That's a good idea rover, then I can fine tune the settings before delivery. Also do you have any loose wiring looms for an ISM8? My project Groove chair has a seat lift and lights, but I don't have any actuator female plugs to wire them up to.

Think it's an ISM8 module I have since it has 4 channels, but I won't be using them all. It also has the lighting option built in so would it be an ISM6-L? If do have a loom, I'll buy it.

Thanks for all your help rover. Looking forward to my new chair! :D

Yes.

But first. Theres is a way to use a DEALER level dongle as an OEM one if you dont mind messing around with both DEALER software and OEM software on your PC with every session.

Couple of days. Then the british customs keep things from 10 days to forever. Then they rip you off for VAT that you shouldnt be paying and then scammers Royal Mail / parcel farce (a private company WHOLLY owned by the state and so nobody gives a shit) have the cheek to add another £££ chunk even though they have already been paid by the sender for the delivery to your door. For the privelidge of collecting from the customs. Which they would need to do anyway.

And then instead of shipping it to you like every other carrier, parcel farce hold it hostage while they get around to posting a 2nd class letter a week or so later. At this point they make you pay up front, online, for their scam, plus VAT, before they will deliver. And when I say deliver, I mean ring the doorbell, or knock quietly, and run for the van to be gone as fast as possible before you can make the door because thats easier than actually looking in the back for the parcel. Unloading the van is someone elses job.

So then you have to wait 2 more days and go collect it yourself from the depot. Because if you go online and try to reorganise another delivery, (they dont automatically redeliver unlike every other company) because its easier for them if you collect it. If they can find it. If the que of angry frustrated people with all the same issues as you, isnt so long that you cannot wait. I absolutely detest parcel farce.

Mine took a fortnight though I paid for 3-5 days. I got a partial refund too.

It was stuck in Chicago airport with an apparent huge backlog of parcels. No duty to pay either, helped by the parcel labelling stating it was a disability item.

Was the partial refund through ParcelFarce? I paid the cheapest shipping cost which was $139! :fencing The 3-5 day one was something like $300+ and I refused to pay that.

And now you wait a week to get a 2nd class post letter that tells you to pay online while they hold your parcel ransom. NO other company does that. They deliver and then invoice you for charges. And they usually cost less. Of course if it was sent marked correctly, you should not have had to pay tax. Thats another rip off. Legally it should be VAT free. So now begins the customs refund fight. And that is a nigghtmare as they have 1 phone line that is never answered sometimes for days. And they deny responsibility and make you and the supplier jump through hoops to get a refund.

Someone should sue royal mail/parcelforce/customs for this time wasting, and scam as they are all complicit. And then they will ring the bell and run away eventually. So that YOU have to go chasing it at the local depot. They make YOU go online to rearange a 2nd delivery.

The customs charge was £81! PSS didn't label it as a disability item and the local depot said there's nothing they could do about it. They did say I could claim it back after they've delivered it tomorrow. What a pain in the butred !
