I do think that as a disabled user you actually need oem access to properly sort out your chair. I understand why they are so scared to let us get hold of oem level tools. But we are the ones that are in the best position to make changes and set these things up over time that works best for us. And from experience, I know that I could never get my own chairs configured properly relying on techs. Even if they have the skills and trust me when I say most are clueless, they still dont have adequate time. It takes me weeks when I get a new chair to get everytging exactly right. And even then I change my mind at times. Today for e.g I increased the motor compensation by 5mOhms on my two linix 6mph powered chairs. From 45mOhms to 50. And reduced torque to 90% Because it drives better with my rear drive/20 stone, and my preferences once the LEAD batteries become less than new...
Having a tech here 4 times a week for a half day while you get things right or decide to test something after having some testing experience for a few days simply isnt practical. Or affordable. Or normally even possible! Because the majority turn up with a dealer version and not a clue what they are doing, and are very secretive and dont want you to even see what they do.
So as an end user, never been on any 24 or 48 hour training course I really do understand what everything is doing. I can configure any chair from scratch. PROPERLY! There are others that do it too. Its pretty frustrating that they make these essential tools virtually impossible to buy. And unafordable to many users. Because the alternative really sucks. And it affects our lives. I feel sorry for maybe 95 percent of all powerchair users that are like mushrooms. Kept in the dark, fed on shit. They think that their chairs are fine, and that they have to learn to drive it! Or "get used to it"...
