No, I told the dealer it wasn't good enough to pay for something stuck in a bloódy airport so they gave me a partial refund. The 3-5 day was $97 before discount.

Well, just opened my "supposedly new" dongle to find this...

To me that's been used a lot. Thieving bastards! :cussing Even the CD is scratched too. :fencing

Should I fight for a refund?

Wow, that's not great but I think because it is so obvious it has to be a genuine mistake.

Simply email them with the images and if it works you can keep it but with a hefty discount and usual warranty of course.

When they refuse, paypal or credit card will refund.

But since the CD is not going to be used, does it work?

Maybe someone returned it. And they shipped it as new.

I have e-mailed PSS already with 4 images (2 are close ups). Can't try the dongle until next Tuesday when my PA is in for most of the day. Even she was shocked at the condition it was in.

Here's the reply from them...

Hi Steve,

I really apologize about that. Yes, they are brand new in the box, you should not have gotten one scratched up like that. I would be happy to do a partial refund for that, would $50 work for you?

Let me know and I can arrange the payment right away.

$50 doesn't cut it for that. Ask for a replacement and they can pick up your one.

I know! :fencing Here was my reply back...

Hi PSS,

Thanks for getting back to me quickly. I was hoping for a half price discount since it's clearly a used product. Even the CD has scratch marks on it when my PA inspected it.

Please get back to me about this.

Kind regards,

Steve

PSS said most they could offer was $100. So I replied back and said...

Thanks for your prompt reply. If you can't offer me a 50% discount then I'll get the refund through Paypal.

Well, think I pi$$ed PSS off because they now refunded me $225. Not my fault they sent me a used OEM kit which was advertised as new.

In future they need to check what condition they are in before they sell them.

Thats because they dont want to upset paypal and get their accout shut. So as long as it works you still won. The other thing is that now your tax is wrong.

Did you ask them to scrawl it on the package? I asked and they obliged and no tax to pay.

No and it wouldn't of made any difference (knowing my luck!). My PA phoned up customs and explained it was for disability use but they still insisted it had to be paid regardless.

Unfortunately none of them are for sale. I need a spare one as a backup.

I keep getting PM's from people asking if I would sell one, I keep telling them no. :) Seems there is a demand for these dongles which Curtiss-Wright refuses to sell to end users. They would probably find a big increase in their products if they ever changed their policy regarding this.

True BM, they probably think because *I* can't pick up the phone and call them to explain why I need an OEM dongle they automatically think I'm someone who doesn't understand how powerchairs work. :fencing How wrong they are! I could set up a chair from scratch better than any "expert" that's been on a 2-day training course. I would challenge an expert and see who had the best smoothest setup.

Rover was quite impressed how I could drive my chairs with my right foot. :)

I do think that as a disabled user you actually need oem access to properly sort out your chair. I understand why they are so scared to let us get hold of oem level tools. But we are the ones that are in the best position to make changes and set these things up over time that works best for us. And from experience, I know that I could never get my own chairs configured properly relying on techs. Even if they have the skills and trust me when I say most are clueless, they still dont have adequate time. It takes me weeks when I get a new chair to get everytging exactly right. And even then I change my mind at times. Today for e.g I increased the motor compensation by 5mOhms on my two linix 6mph powered chairs. From 45mOhms to 50. And reduced torque to 90% Because it drives better with my rear drive/20 stone, and my preferences once the LEAD batteries become less than new...

Having a tech here 4 times a week for a half day while you get things right or decide to test something after having some testing experience for a few days simply isnt practical. Or affordable. Or normally even possible! Because the majority turn up with a dealer version and not a clue what they are doing, and are very secretive and dont want you to even see what they do.

So as an end user, never been on any 24 or 48 hour training course I really do understand what everything is doing. I can configure any chair from scratch. PROPERLY! There are others that do it too. Its pretty frustrating that they make these essential tools virtually impossible to buy. And unafordable to many users. Because the alternative really sucks. And it affects our lives. I feel sorry for maybe 95 percent of all powerchair users that are like mushrooms. Kept in the dark, fed on shit. They think that their chairs are fine, and that they have to learn to drive it! Or "get used to it"...
