Thanks and thanks. £100 delivery from China! Not 100% sure I need the hassle of building a pact but I love the idea.

Well it really depends on if you are a sit at home, or a get out into the world and take a look type.

I suspect many people do 2 or 3 miles max a day. But theres a small percentage that really cant do a day on a lead battery. I was one. But my dog died so its less important now. But now and again I just run out of juice about halfway through a day. Its not only distance but what you are doing. The other thing is that it removes the dreaded range anxiety. That most don't realise they have. It prevents you going places that you otherwise would. That alone is worth the trouble! If it only lasts 4 or 5 years, or needs maintenance, it still makes your lead last way longer anyway so still cheap really.

And it will greatly increase the lifespan of the lead bricks. If you're purchasing lead bats out of your own wallet, an ADD ON such as this makes a lot of sense.

MK Gels don't last me a year, which is the length of time it takes before I can get a new set covered by insurance. So inevitably I'm purchasing a new set of lead out of my own pocket, as they never last a year for me. And I always feel as though I'm babying them and not just doing what I want and going where I might otherwise go, even on a whim, just to extend their usefulness.

It will be fun learning and its the best way to get started and feel comfortable - you wont be over stressed and you will like it in the end what it can do for your range -

get extra orange blocks - and 4 hole connectors - each Cell will come with one orange block and one 2 hole connector - its neater and easier with the 4 hole connectors - you can keep the extra 2 hole connector as spares if ever needed -

your like it when done :)

I am thinking hard about it, illness and MD is holding me back a bit but then I think if I don't do it now I never will. I can see you guys would keep me right if I did. I do live out in the countryside about six miles from the nearest village. The roads are insane (people speeding large trucks) with no paths.
Your right Burgerman, range anxiety does stop me doing things I might have done. Its the main reason I want to buy an outside chair. The storm 4 with a add on pack would do the trick.

I'll be in Dublin next month to see Aerosmith! Last time I was there I was by myself and to tell you the truth I was a bit worried in case I did not make it back to the train station.

I'm getting ready to start on this endeavor, thanks to you, expresso :P . So, I did some looking on my favorite suppliers site and came up with this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/16pcs-LIFEPO4-h ... SwgQ9V117q

Is this a decent deal?

24 MK Batteries - New with a 45ah ADD ON - you should be good for 30 miles - and your right - sometimes we worry and waste time - then years go by - we realize its not going to be easier -

once you do it - you get over the fears and start enjoying it sooner rather than later -

i have found that if you email them - at EV - let them know what you want and price for shipping - many times its alot less than it shows up when you order it on there site and they calculate the shipping

you can tell them in the email - its too much for shipping and what can they offer you -

nothing to loose

Yeah, I might have to try that as when I went to checkout it was $110.00 for shipping.

yeah i seen that also - so its about the same as the ebay link - i would still try to email them and let them know what you are looking to get - etc, and ask for the best shipping they can do - also can you get the 4 hole connectors from the ebay seller ? it would be it easier and cleaner looking with the 4 hole connectors - if you make 2 Rows - you only need Two 2 hole connectors - and Seven 4 hole connectors -

i would buy extra - orange blocks - double what you need - just to be safe - you dont want to need one and not have it - they are cheap so few extra dollars in the end -

I ordered some (30) 4-hole buss bar connectors from here... http://evcomponents.com/ But they sent 2-hole ones, so I e-mailed them and now they're sending me 4-hole connectors, so I got the others essentially for free! EV Components are slightly cheaper than EV Assemble.

nice - i seen that site before - is this the first time you ordered from them ? how long does it take them to ship things out etc, - before you receive about 10 days more or less ?

do you find the shipping is cheaper also ? that can be helpful -

just did a quick check - 60 cells - orange blocks - 40 4 hole connectors - 1,441 and shipping express 4 to 6 days it says $250 not bad i think - about the same but shipping seems faster if you really get it in 6 days

They shipped the buss bars pretty quickly (albeit the wrong ones!) and I got them within 10 days. I would think if you ordered the cells, buss bars and orange blocks from them it would take longer. The postage cost was nearly double than the 30 buss bars!

Nice find, Steve!

Pricing and shipping on par with EVASS, maybe a bit cheaper, and MUCH faster shipping time!

same at the other sites - best thing to do is buy extra when you order and thats it - if you need 30 - buy 50 - or double and never have to worry about it after - pay it once and thats it - i made the mistake very first time also - then i needed more for one reason or another and had to pay double to get them from the USA site which no longer sells - i wanted them fast not 2 weeks later - so i paid the price -

from now on - buy enough orange blocks to build two packs - and extra buss bars 4 hole - 2 hole you get for free - use for back up if you have no other choice -

I just ordered a couple spare cells for myself, and a few to replace the cells you sent me, expresso. Also ordered some spare 4-hole connectors along with shit-ton of orange blocks. I'll be sending plenty of those back to you expresso, among with the cells. ;)

Got a PL8 charger and power supply
Ordered 20 cells and other bits and pieces.

What about the balance leads? Can I use these ones?

Which D Sub plug are you using? I think I will copy your style Expresso.

Guess I should buy a good quality voltmeter too. Anything else?

You need to buy the 36 inch Celpro pl8 extention balance cables. Cheap enough, and they will fit. The ones you linked wont. And are better quality. Suggest you get 2.

As for connectors, cables etc theres links and part numbers in the pinned lithium thread.
