OK. Got it.

Saw several units with 3.31 ---- 3.33 , and cost £70 around.

May be my last chance to build spare piled up.

Sorry to ask . Is it really safe to update firmware as Revolectrix has gone ?

Absolutely. The actual firmware is built into this file.

Yes it is, as the firmware is embedded into CCS. If you're really interested, get a .NET Framework reverse engineering program and you'll see the encoded firmware listed.

What can go wrong? It should be fine. I would still update to 3.6.

Are there alot of used pl8 for sale there?
Are all the cables needed for the pĺ8 available there?

I have a ICharger4010 an I like it. But I would also like to have a couple used pl8 chargers.

I would get 2 or 3 an have them shipped over seas with the cables

Most are version 3.31, and a few 3.33 @£11 around.
Most come with extension board + JST connector.

Good news is there is one still selling FUMI3 @£7 only.

Hi Shirley,

I have one PL8 and I've become addicted to it. I'd sure like to have a spare! If you come across any other decent looking used ones do let me know. I've only been able to find 1 in the EU and one in Great Britain, both at ridiculous prices.

I'd buy a couple of used ones too Shirley if you can find them please.

Have quite a few 36in extension cables for balance wires, so don't need any of those.

Please PM me your budget, whether you accept version 3.31 or want 3.33 only.

1kg shipping weight via surface registered mail (slow boat) is estimated @£9. cheers

Shirley, I hope you saw my earlier note. I'd also like to buy a used PL8, firmware 3.31 OK, budget up to E150.00 or even a bit more. It would be helpful to also have another FUIM3. Thanks to you I already have plenty of balance leads!

It doesn't matter about the firmware version as I'll be updating to the latest anyway. If you can find two for under £150, then I'll take them plus whatever the postage is via slowboat. Don't need any additional PSUs like the EFUEL one showing.

You WILL need the FUIM3 and a few balance cables at the same time too. Or it will not be much use to you.

Why are you comfortable with version 3.25 ? Would like to hear your comment. :worship

Are they indifferent in hardware wise ?

Do you guys think a couple used pl8 would be good backups for my icharger-4010duo. I've gotten familiar with the icharger and I like it although it does have some cons.
Now that the pl8 is discontinued would I be better off buying another icharger-4010duo with a 3 year warranty for backup or buy a couple used pl8 without warranty for backup chargers.

As BM said, I'll be updating the firmware anyway. Hardware wise there was a few small revisions to the PCB schematic I think, but they all use the same firmware regardless. Even the PL8v1 can be updated to the v3.xx firmware I believe.

Shirley,

Please send me the one you've already reserved. When you know the actual shipping cost I'll send you the money via PayPal. Would you prefer that it be in Hong Kong currency? How much should I add so any PayPal commission will be covered by what I send you? If you can also get me an FUIM3, that would be good.

Firmware.
3.6 JUST speeded up ramp up time. So unimportant to us.
3.5 is same as 3.4 but added another type of cell.
3.4 is OK and we need it because it added the ability to count beyond 99Ah... but lacks the LCO chemistry.

3.3 or less must be updated. To 3.5 or 3.6. But updating is simple and reliable.

Whats the reason for the question? Only you know how many pl8s to buy?

I dont know how many times we can say firmware does not matter since you can update that in 30 seconds.

It seems to me that someone has loaded a non-Revolectrix version into it. It doesn't matter at all, right ?

What makes you think its not a revolectrix firmware?

3.3 is just an older one.
