No change in how the program works. Same errors but in my registry when I use Sim mode COM changes to 0 but when I change back to Slave COM changes back to 32 or 28.

Well I'm off to sleep ...
Gologen is only man who has managed to connect to a CAN interface and it seems we're both fighting ignorance and the software!

Goodnight.

Recent quote from buggies gone wild

I received the confirmation from Curtis that the PC prog. station v3.12 isn't compatible with Windows 7, so from now I will realise all my test from windows XP.

The suggested solution is ....to run Windows XP Mode and Windows Virtual PC Home.

Windows XP Mode and Windows Virtual PC, available on Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate, allow you to run multiple Windows environments, such as Windows XP Mode, from your Windows 7 desktop.

Cheers for the Gologen .... you are using XP?
Twinpanther you are using Windows 7?

Twinpanthers lead is detected ... USB shows up in his screenshots .... so I'm assuming that it won't show up as a COM port and assigning it a number 1 or 2 will not be possible.... BUT it's well worth checking to see!

@ Paul.....
I've also noticed that I have TWO canapi.dll versions.
One is Copyright © 2004 version 4.3.0.0 @ 64.0 KB and is from Sonthiem ( a result of a download from the Sontheim site ) and the Curtis canapi.dll Copyright © 1998-2004 version 8.0.1.1 @ 156 KB .... so there maybe a possible conflict between them and I'd suggest a search for multiple versions and should the Sontheim version be present ... rename it canapi-sei.dll ....or something along those lnes ,so as to be sure that just the Curtis version is in use.

Wow, Great accomplishment Guy's. Now if we could only find the new software that will run on Windows 7 Or I will have to find a used XP laptop.

Seejay ....
There appears to currently be 2 solutions ..Gologens ..which has limited functionality...

He has kindly sent me the DLL that will work with the QN USB-CAN ... The use of his DLL comes with an "AT YOUR OWN RISK " warning.

And any interface made by I-ME ACTIA listed in the drivers folder.

He however recommends the NETPORTY2 ... which is available via ebay or an online shop here in Europe ONLY..

A search by yourself from your end might turn up other sources for Actia interfaces.

It should be noted that a NETPORTY pdf is included in the first virgin install of the 1314 prog ..and deleted by the updates.

With the current info ...I'd suggest ... an old XP based machine with a... 9 PIN COMS PORT...and the Netporty interface ...it will save a lot of faffing around!

Trying on two machines to make sure it isn't a 7/xp problem. One running windows 7 (both as 7 and XP compatibility mode) as well as an older laptop running XP only. Nothing has changed and I believe it's due to my cable. I'm working on getting some software that might solve my issues but it will take some time.

Woody, I guess I am confusing myself, you said to get an old XP with a 9 pin com. I thought that what was needed to hook up this Can converter Netporty thing, with out checking. But now I see it uses USB. But why is a 9 pin com necessary. Future use?

XP Computer with DB9 COM port >>> Netporty2 >>>> RS232/Centronics: 25-pin male >>>Female of a RS232/Centronics: 25-pin LEAD ... output from lead (just two of the wires required )>>>wheelchair programming socket .

DB9 input ( plug into old XP computer COM Port )

RS232/Centronics: 25-pin male output

RS232 lead...
Plug on the right into Netporty2.
Plug on the left would be cut off and just two of the wires would go to the wheelchair CANBUS

What I ment was if I have a XP laptop without a 9 pin com, only USB, I have a USB cable with a 9 pin adaptor on it to go the the Netporty Adapter. Would this present a problem? Or should I hold out for a XP with the 9 pin com port?

Or get a serial adapter for your laptop.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/RS232-ExpressCa ... 53eca243ad

Most have express card slots. These come in two types. widths.

I've made a boob on which way around the Netporty goes ...

http://www.ime-actia.de/download/netporty2_man.pdf

The 25 pin end goes to the puter... via adaptor lead ..the DB 9 pin OUT to the lead and on to the chair.
CENT.jpg
CENT.jpg (11.07 KiB) Viewed 18657 times

Also there will be 4 wires ...as the Netporty gets power from an external source ...CAN_H . CAN_L ... 24V+[POWER_V+] and 24- [POWER_GND].

Forget the USB-TTL thing ....it's the chip inside Gologens USB-CAN adaptor .... and irrelevant ..UNLESS your going his route.

The DRIVERS folder lists 3 other IME-ACTIA interfaces.
