Done that.

Today I finally found potential source for the actual chair frame. It is stupid, but they seem to destroy all old chairs here. No recycling...

Still seeking for wheels and great looking rims. 8-)

Download this http://www.optipower.co.uk/public/16fc4 ... f0b0c.html
Its way easier to update charger and set up all your charging parameters on a PC and also watch it charge and graph the result.

You also need a power supply. This can be small, and you charge slow. Or huge and you get power back fast! The charger can charge at 1344 watts. And up to 40A if the power supply is big enough. These are expensive http://www.optipower.co.uk/Catalogue/Pr ... 106&cnode=

I use these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USED-digimess ... 2a4b399f09

Better quality and don't come up often at that price. Very flexible. Allows direct charging of batteries too.

And you will need http://www.optipower.co.uk/Catalogue/Pr ... 116&cnode=

And you need one (at least) of these to make up a balance connector for your 8 cell battery.

ebay did not deliver to Finland, so had go for Singapore option. Thanks for guiding me through, it really helps to get pieces of puzzle before starting to build it. There is really many things to figure out in this puzzle :)

I was reading the story about wheels and rims, but could not figure out any brand names to seek for. I would like to go for black tires and shiny rims, but cannot find those from webshops, all are selling for bikes or cars and wheelschair tires are all grey. Even the great bay of E looks similar.

Any hint for this:?:

I assume you want standard size wheels that look better than the normal wheelchair ones?

Google for 8" monkey bike wheels.
There's some pretty cool alloy ones but you'll need to make some sort of adapter to mount them on your chair. BM has an example somewhere, I think in the BM2 build sheets.
They come in widths between 2.5 and 4" and there's tubeless ones as well.
They can take standard grey rehab tires or any style monkey bike tire you want from cross tires to slicks.

I suppose wheelsize should be quite small like StrikeForce has
http://www.powersoccershop.com/pssalumm ... touts.aspx

especially when engines have more power to be tuned into speedlimit.

In that size these or similar is all there is. Unless you get a set turned. They are 4 x 2.5 inches.

What you think about with of tire? From grip point of view slick wide tire sounds goof, but this chair needs to turn around fast for spinkick. So maybe that is greating a need for compromise?

@CPguy it was really well organized and great event. Our players where the youngest there, but they were enjoying it really much. Always interested to exchange ideas, how we can develop better tools for players. Especially as the new chair types become more common, we need to keep up with speed of development :geek:

You need cart wheels and tyres then. Hundreds to choose from.

You need to know the speed of the chair that you are taking the motors from on its 14 inch rims.
The voltage you intend to use.
Then aim for the correct speed at full voltage.

Its all a balance. Turning speed down in programming is throwing away battery power and torque. Correct gearing is far better. Be it at the motor or the wheel.

That site is somewhat "conventional" and low tech. All long nose heavy chairs, heavy high resistance slow charging gel batteries, prehistoric chargers etc. non sticky tyres on tiny rims and basic dealer programmers all at silly prices. Is that what really they all use?

My roboteq chair with 45V has 3x the power of a normal mobility chair. It will turn 8 inch wide slicks into smoke.

That's because it can be used with 150A per motor, rather than 100. So 150%
And also because the voltage is doubled, you use HALF the gear ratio to go at the same speed. That doubles the torque again. So 300% torque.

It wont be an issue and will acc and turn so rapidly your daughters legs will come off... All the other chairs will look broken.

Yes, i agree. The site looks old fashioned. Even theyr payment system.... They cannot let me use PayPal as i am not located in USA! What is that?

Well i keep on searching. Similar size rims and black wheels must be available else where too (most probly produced in China anyway ;) )

.

I was thinkin of 24volts.
Motors are invacare tdx-sp 4 pole
Speed i am aiming for is 10km/h =6.21MPH

In which case your motor RPM is 209, and your correct tyre size is 9.7 inches for 6mph. Or 10 inches for 6.2.

http://www.advanced-ev.com/Calculators/TireSize/ When I put the the figures in for my own BM3 chair it says 17.8mph. It actually does 16. something. So is quite close.

thanks again. just managed to order those 10" tyres (really stone-aged payment system they seem to have in that superdroid site).
I am now looking for similar size, but much wider to compare impact in the action.

I am sort of surprised that nobody has suggested using the search for posts by Joe C, as he had a lot of relevant advice and discussion. He was a coach on, and his ex-wife played for, the Team USA power soccer team that won the world championship a few years back. We sort of like to think our advice may have helped...

One thing that I do recall him saying is that precise control in a kick was much more important than pure power or speed. (though he had some impressive videos of spin-kicking THROUGH watermelons...) He said that he often turned down the speed / power on his player's competition chairs in order to better match their (dis)ability level as he found that a slower kick that sent the ball in a controlled direction was better than a smashing wallop that went flying in a random one.

IIRC they were using Odyssey batteries and DX controllers on their chairs (this was before the BM3 Roboteq solution was working) and charging every time a player came off the court for even a few minutes... This let them keep going at full speed longer than the other guys and is part of why they won....

@ex-Gooserider good point. My daughter already has a chair, which is kind of tuned down by nature;) As it cannot perform better even as all force is sucked out of it, i was thinking to greate a chair which can be tested to seek what level of power could be good combination. She has been playing just one year and dont want to let the limitations of chair to hinder down development and excitement. Learning and tuning up need to be balanced.

An expert of the game who visited weekend practices of the team recommended to switch whole team to PowerStrike after observing their practice. After reading about Burgerman's chair, i started to think that there might be better way (and more inspiring, as i can participate too) ;)

If they allow it.

It would murder a mobility chairs setup.

But there may be rules about batteries, types, voltages. Controllers etc for safety.

@ Burgerman: Currently in power chair soccer the only technical wheelchair rule (apart from guard size and clearance) is the speed limit. Its paradise! :D

I hope it stays that way!

New motors! I got AMT SRG0410 motors with the frame. Used only few hours for demo purposeses. Lucky go incidence.

There is an extra cable coming from end of motor. Also the extension of motor looks different than pictures i have found from internet.
Could not find proper manual for this engine type.
Any one has idea is it cooling system or what?
