This is the only post about EW-38 have been able to find. Been looking over a year at different options. From a front electric powered attachment that turns a wheelchair into a trike until finally running across these EW's.... EW-36, now EW-38.
36's had issues, but overall this type scooter answers my mobility problems. Especially if the EW-38 has gotten better built. Did water-proofing any of the exposed motor/wiring/board get addressed with the 38?
Even as it sits, like the 13mph is fine. Also, with the availability of electric motors, batteries, after this has reached its life cycle, the frame/body alone would still be exactly what I'd want to continue with! Not going to spend this type money to jump in with any overhauls until ready.
All in all, my question to you is...... was it worth the $$$? :geek:

Hey Coolbeans. Sorry, I just caught your post.

To answer your question. Well, Yes and No. Let me give you my pros and cons after my time with the 38.

Pros
13 MPH
8-10 miles on full (relatively new) batteries
Stable when you get use to it
"Cool" factor running it through the grocery store/Mall etc
LOUD Alarm
Keyless turn on
Lockable Storage under seat

Cons
Ride with the seat fully forward or possibly end up on your backside!
2-4 miles on full (6-8 Month old) batteries
Replace batteries every 6-8 months depending on use ($160 US Approx.)
LOUD Alarm (It goes off EVERY time you turn off the key. Lots of fun at the doctors or grocery if you need to turn the key off for some reason like getting to that lockable storage).
Need space to store/charging
More I'm just not thinking of atm.

So, I loved it when it had new batteries and hated buying new batteries. The epitome of a Love/Hate relationship. Was it worth the $2400 I spent? Monetarily no but for the brief time I had it and my abilities it was a good fit. I just sold mine with a new set of batteries for $1200 and a new eZip for my daughter. About $1700 value total.

No clue about waterproofing as I never rode it in the rain.

They have done some minor upgrades but the price tag isn't worth it. Needs better rear stability, brushless motor and Lithium. But of course that'll put it way out of most folks budget.

Just my opinion. Good luck with your choice!!!
