Yes only more so. Because 3.5 wide rim is INSIDE the wheel. The actual wheel is 4 inches across. The tyre is only 3.5 inches.

Some boy racers think it looks cool...

Ah! Yes that makes sense, thanks for clearing that up. I can put that nagging thought to bed now.

3.50 TYRE ON 2.75 Rim is ok. 3.00 inch tyre not really OK on a 2.75 rim. So 2.50 better.
But neither will fit a 3.5 rim properly. It tries to stretch the tyre. It wont look as bad as those pictures but that was to illustrate the extremes. If you are going to use 3.5 rims you may as well fit the 120 tyre as its a little smaller diameter and the correct size for the rim.

Made worse by moving the seat back. So recline, and tilt can be dangerous! Especially if seat is raised. But its common sense to me so I use my brain.

I had a brainwave. To get the optimum seat position for myself (lightweight) in the chair. I going to clamp it progressively further back until I find the maximum rearward positing that avoid both footplate and castors clashing, and chair tipping backwards at max elevate/tilt on level ground. Then re-drill and fix.

Yes, thats what I did, over a bed since it feels high and may tip. With recline as well as tilt its a close thing. Esp if high... So I dont recline if high. And until you get a headrest fitted you cant really!

300mm or 12 inch lift doesent sound much. But it certainly feels like about 3x this! Its not something I use much though. Its too slow to rise/fall, lifes too short. But can be useful at times to reach stuff.

When I first started looking for a salsa I thought I don't need tilt/elevate. Then I saw this chair with 4-pole motors but thought it wasn't for me because it had tilt/elevate. It was your reply saying go for it, tilt/elevate might come in handy, and I'm so glad I did. Tilt is nice to have I think just for a change of orientation. And for me elevate will be really useful for getting up onto my feet. I can't get up from my manual chair because the seat is too low, but that shouldn't be a problem with the salsa. Plus a powerchair is a much more stable platform.

See this, it's the front right lighting cable. Would that have occurred when chair was assembled at factory, or do they arrive at the dealer in basic kit form and dealer bolts the major bits together? I.E. like flat pack furniture?

That looks like some numpty has done it wrong.

I moved my light inboard. Why? Because every bit of furniture or bed, or whatever you get close to to work on something smashes the lights.

Mine are moved in, but still shine past the outside of my legs fine.

See:

And

The bolts are now replaced with black, and have black plastic caps too.

Minor disagreement with you about the position of joystick pods - I don't think there is any single 'right' place to put the pod... Far as I'm concerned your setup wouldn't work for me at all - to start with the pod is on the wrong side of the chair....

My chair has the Pilot + pod centered on the armrest, and the surface of the pod is about 1/2" below the top of the armrest - works well for me and gives good control. Probably wouldn't work for you though... My armrest also wobbles around some, but I don't think it's a problem because I'm bracing my hand and arm on it, so any wobble just moves my arm, not where my fingers are pointing...

I think you are right about the need to get to pod positioned where it is most comfortable, but not that there is any definitive place that is right for all of us.... Instead, go with something like the following procedure...(assuming reasonable hand / arm / finger function)

1. Adjust the height and angle of the armrest so that it is comfortable to have your arm on it without needing to strain to hold it there - mostly getting the height right...

2. Once you have your arm comfortable, move the pod around so that you can comfortably move the stick using thumb and fingers without moving your arm, and keeping your palm braced on the pod or armrest....

If hand / arm / finger function is limited, do the same sort of thing to the greatest extent possible that allows you to keep as much of your arm braced as abilities allow....

Me and assistance cat have retired to the bedroom worn out. I've uploaded some salsa progress piccies here: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmd2ccJj If you study the pictures closely hopefully you might be able to advise me.

Thoughts so far...

1) front light wire that was trapped is as flat as a pancake. In fact I'm not particularly impressed by the routing of some of the other wires around the tilt/elevate mechanism. You can see signs of pinching on some wire. I've got to make some better brackets for front lights.

2) There's no way that front tyre 3.00 x 4 is going to fit in them forks.

Bucket Problem Encountered, confused dot com, regarding the tilt/elevate unit. Where the unit bolts onto the rolling chassis I was hoping to be able to raise the front end to create some fixed bucket in the seat when the tilt/elevate unit is fully down. There are front left and right lugs with a choice of two fixing holes. On initially looking at the chair I was hoping to tilt the unit back and use the lower lug bolt hole. Effectively raising the front of the tilt/elevate unit by about 2 inches. But it can't be done because the back of the tilt/elevate unit clashes with the rear tube of the rolling chassis. NB: The tilt/elevate unit is mounted as a seesaw with a pivot point 2/3rds of the way down. My initial idea was to drill a new hole equal distance between the two existing holes in the front lug. Then mount front end on newly drilled middle lug hole. But you can see from the scribed circle that is the maximum bucket that the rear chassis tube allows the tilt/elevate unit to be tilted back. And if I drill a hole there it will burst through into the top existing hole.

So how do I create bucket in the seat? It's no good repositioning that rear microswitch because that only deals with the drive inhibit when the seat is raised/tilted. Can I set the tilt mechanism so that it electrically stops at my desired bucket, say 2 inches higher front to back?

I'm confused how to do this? There are two recessed what look like allen bolt adjustment screw at the front of the tilt/elevate unit. I don't know what they do? I'm not touching them with knowing, I might screw it right up! hanged
