You mean solder new cable on? Or buy another 3ft cable and plug them together?

I'd guess BM means make a new 6ft cable. Joints in high current cables are potential hotspots and should be avoided as much as possible.

Its as easy to make a new cable as to chop up and extend the old one. with added joints etc. So seems daft to not do so. That way you have 2 cables...

Guys can you help me locate the jst pa connector for the powerlab 8. Does it need soldering, crimping type, tool free? there are so many to trawl through. I need the shells for the d sub connector, i ordered the wrong ones. )-:

Found the connector
https://www.google.com/amp/s/uk.rs-onli ... s/4766833/

I need to find the header pins now.

I assume you want the female header pins Ice, if so are these suitable?... https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/pcb-conn ... s/1630376/ Although solder ones would be preferred over crimped, which I can't find! :cussing

It's the same d-sub shell for both genders.

No. You are not going to diy a JST connector right.

Just chop off the XH 2.54 plug , and extend the JST end with extra wires to your desired length .

Shirley's right, don't bother. I bought the JST PA shells and crimp sockets - waste of time, without the right crimp tool they're impossible to assemble reliably. My lab tech tried every crimp tool we have in the workshop. Just buy the 9" pigtail, or repurpose either the ready-made extension or adapter cables.

Don't worry it's not good looking. You'll have it all wrapped up at the end.

Likewise, I'll take 16 - are we talking 176 or 210Ah?

16X 105Ah.
Or 8x 176Ah.

Both ways should fit.

Are these both Shirley supplied or from where? The sizing seems to vary by supplier and on some looks very tight allowing for inter-cell insulation @1 - 1.5mm polycarbonate sheet or similar.

You might think about using polyimide (Kapton and similar) as separators and wrap. It's really tough stuff and comes in multiple thicknesses - down to a small fraction of a mm. For example, you could use plain sheet between cells and for wrapping the outside all held together with self-stick kapton tape at the corners.

Hmmm, expensive stuff Kapton in sheet form. A 30cm square of 0.025mm (1 thou) sheet is around 18GBP, whereas 1mm polycarbonate is around 20GBP per sq m!

How much is 16x105Ah cells from Shirley? I'm needing some batteries to get my Groove chair up and running.

I'm not sure Shirley wants all the hassle what with the state of things in Hong Kong.
But they are about £1500 here but that includes delivery and I think all the taxes.
Not sure if they are the same cells.

Or £1166

They look the same, maybe Shirley will know. You should also check out the tax situation cuz UPS tend to rat you out if its not already paid. They might also be available cheaper elsewhere.

I'm about 80% sure they will fit my chair but its going to be tight and the tolerance on the cells might make it even tighter.

Dimensions(L*W*H):130*36*200mm

I guess that would mean two rows of eight. 26CM wide 29CM length and 20CM tall. Plus the insulation which is going to ad a few MM.

How would you wire them? 8S4P? If someone could do a image that would be amazing.

Irving, you will find polyimide cheaper at AliExpress if you're willing to wait for it. Advantage over polycarbonate, aside from being able to cut it with decent shears, is that you can go thinner, though I think 0.05 or 0.1 mm would be easier to handle than the 0.025.

Ask them what size the bolt holes are. Shirley's are M4, those look more like M6, but it's difficult to tell from photos. You could always message them...
