As I have endlessely tried to explain they wont. Or at least they already do, and they are useless in a powerchair and most other places because they perform worse than cheaper lead...

I have been in touch with Pride USA and they tell me that Pride UK is just a re-seller and it's up to them
if the stock the upgrades. I called Pride UK again but they keep repeating "the law says 4 mph"

I've looked at all the sites that sell power chair motors with no joy. So that's it.
Unless we want to mode our frame we are stuck with these motors.

Van OS have a 7 mph chair but they won't sell me any motors as they don't sell spares to the public.
So unless other Fusion users can point me towards a company to buy some motors that's it.

My next chair I will buy from Europe and not the UK.

Powerchair manufacturers don't make motors. Or control systems most of the time. Or wheels, tyres, bearings, batteries, lights, wiring looms, and even seating or footplates most of the time. They make a bracket (the frame) and screw all the other bits on.

They buy them from industry suppliers such as AMT or Electrocraft, EMD etc for motors for eg. So post some info about your motors, and a picture or two, and there will be something that can be used from elsewhere.

Hi BM. I did look on those sites you listed but I couldn't see them.

This is a break down of the Fusion chair in PDF format http://www.activemobilitymaintenance.co ... rchair.pdf

On the label it says " watts continuous 359W watts Peak 600 W" If I google the part number and serial number I get the pdf I've posted.

I will have to get someone in to take the wheel off for pictures.
Thank you.

I must admit I saw that one but then I saw "up to 300W" and mine is 350 W so I never gave it a second look.
Got some one coming round the weekend to take the wheel off so I can get a picture.

I am very practical, understand a lot of physics and engineering and can see how things work. And a previous life of hobbies and building drag bikes, custom cars and 101 other things lets me know what "stuff" is out there and a lot about batteries etc. But there are others that are far more technical on here like Woodygb or Lenny etc.

That motor just bolts to a flat plate. Drilling a few holes, or making a flat adapter plate, or using spacers will allow other motors to be fitted.

But gear ratio determines speed. RPM per Volt is almost completely linear. So you need to connect a 12v battery, power the brake off, and count revolutions for 60 seconds. Then double it for 24V. Then remove about 10 percent for load and because these chairs run on about 22v.

This x wheel diameter determines speed. If it is faster it will need a more powerful motor too and likely it will be a 4 pole motor instead of two as shown.

Mine were stupidly overpowered ear splittingly loud "street" bikes with fat tyres and slight attitude.

My road bike ended up as a 1135cc Turbocharged (huge T4 30lb boost) Nitrous injected monster that could leave a solid black line and a cloud of tyre smoke for a mile at a time, at will, down the motorway at speeds cars cant go and you really wouldn't believe. Wild fun!

Till it all ended rather badly!

I have a few jet engines here. Including this one:

Image

2 feet long. About 82HP worth. Perfect for a kart. But somewhat loud and violent.

I'd pay to see that at Santa pod. I bet your garage is an Aladdin's cave to us.

Not any more. No use to me. I kept a lathe and a few toys though.

I'd pay to see that at Santa pod.

Ok a little update. I see by looking at the youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utyuP4L8bo0

The motors\frame looks the same. It's a Van OS Airide X-Tend. So I contacted Van OS who put in touch with a reseller.
After a chat it turns out I need a serial number off a Van OS Airide X-Tend to get the 7 mph motors :(

This the pdf for the parts http://files.vanosmedical.nl/Onderdelen ... Airide.pdf
I'm just trying to figure out how to approach them next to get the 7 mph motors.

You may notice they offer a 70 and a 90 Amp VR2 or R-net. The bigger ones will be used with the faster motors. Or you will not have adequate torque.

No I never noticed. Well spotted BM. So I will have to say I have a VR2 90 amp. I can get that for £140 so not that bad.
I bet the price will be about £800 each :( If I could find a place around Birmingham to trade mine in for a Van OS I would.

But not plug and play.

Wish I had your knowledge. Well Van os need a serial number off the chair(which I haven't got). For them to sell me a motor.
Will try another company soon.

They only need that to look up a part number. You find that and order. Or find them any suitable chairs number. These people go out of their way to make it hard work.

You're 100% right. They act like the secret service. Well I called a reseller and he want's either of the numbers so he can order the right part.
I did say that out of the two 7 mph chairs the only difference was the controller and one having tilt.
But he wouldn't have non of it. Do these people want to make money and have a good customer service?

I've emailed a guy off the bay that sells second hand parts. If he gets any 7 mph motors in he will email me back.
This the only way I could get them I think. But I'm really mad at the way they treat people.

EDIT= Just had a email from van os NL and they want.............drum roll

That's because the manufacturers don't sell to the public. They have a dealer network.

You need to go to a dealer.

I circumvent that with sunrise because I have access to a dealer account. So I only need a sunrise part number, for say a motor, to order one.

A BIG update.

"Clearly, it is possible to order the motor only without any serial number I cannot offer it under warranty.

Please find below pricing of the motors:
48505120 Transaxle and motor including motorbrake LEFT for R-NET / VR2 90 AH € 655,50
48505130 Transaxle and motor including motorbrake RIGHT for R-NET / VR2 90 AH € 655,50"

So just short of a £1000 with delivery and no warranty. And I'll have to buy a 90amp VR2 controller. I will sleep on it.
Thought BM?

Being disabled isn't cheap. My thoughts. It will work (speed) with your lower power unit. You will have less torque.

You're right yet again. I'm going to save up and buy the whole chair @£2500 with tilt\lights\7 mph ect.

Wonder If I could get £900 for my 7 month old Fusion?

And get 8.5mph version. Throw away batteries and control system. It uses the same motors as my BM3 does, and I know they are good for 45V and 16mph... So Roboteq/lithium... :D

No idea. Being disabled isn't cheap.

The only thing that can make it cheap(er) or better is knowledge, planning, understanding. And DIY...

it also has lights\tilt\ manual elevated leg rests\6mph\comfort seating(what ever that is)
It's an ex shop demo and he want £1900+ my chair.
