Yes you can download it if you want. Various people here have copies. It will not WORK without the expensive part. The dongle which locks or unlocks it.

Do you have any idea whether the unit from Taiwan will work with my scooter? And other, similar scooters? It's a lot of money to spend, if the device is unusable. But, on the other hand, there may be sufficient interest in my neighbourhood and contacts, to justify the investment.

Any help appreciated,

If your scooter uses R-net I would be rather surprised. The R-net programmer works with R-net controllers. Only.

Are you confusing wheelchair/powerchair with scooter?

Yes, probably ... English is not my mother tongue. The kind of device I use myself, and will like to work with, is similar to the ones sold by Danish company Medema http://www.medema.dk. Even if you don't read Danish, you can see the chairs / scooters, I'm interested in, on Medema's home page. What is the correct word in English for these?

Powerchair. Has caster wheels, steers by differential power to the drive wheels with a joystick

Scooter, steers by turning the bars like a bicycle.

Only a powerchair MAY use a R-net controller. Or may use something else.

Everything on the Medema site, except one small picture labelled Quantum near the bottom, is a scooter. It is very unlikely that any of them use an R-net controller.

Thank you for the clarification :-)

The service manual for the Minicrosser scooter says:
There is a complete package available containing PC program, cable and USB to serial adapter: SR-03030 PC PROGRAMMING PACKAGE FOR S-180

The package is the OEM version, and will not initially be sold to dealers. The product number of the dealer version will be available at a later date.

The product number of loose cable is SR-03028 PC PROGRAMMING CABLE S-180. The product number of the USB serial adapter is SR-03029 USB FOR SERIAL ADAPTER

Can anyone here help me find a way to get this "complete package"?

@woodygb, the diode 1N4148 and resistor 47K... they are critical values?

I'm looking in my closet recycled electronics. Resistors no problem, but I just find diode model 1N5824 5A 40V.

I was surfing the web and I found the following, is a USB-ODB programming cable, the scheme is very similar, even somewhat simpler:

"So I have sold hundreds of these and the demand has dropped off so I decided to show you all how to make your own USB programming cable. These can be built for less than $10 total. All you need is a USB to serial adapter with a FTDI chip on it and a 1000 ohm resistor and a simple glass diode. Solder the resistor to the diode end without the black stripe. Solder the other end of the resistor to the RX terminal on the USB adapter. Solder the diode other end with the black stripe to the TX terminal in the USB adapter. Then connect the adapter ground terminal to your car obd port black wire. Connect the resistor/diode to the tan wire on your obd port"

What does the PGDT Software say... any error messages when it starts e.g
Unable to open Serial Port?

You have got the Joystick turned ON?

has anybody tried ftdi usb to serial for interfacing with the S-drive

ftdi ground to molex pin 1(B-)
ftdi Tx to molex pin 4(Rx)
ftdi Rx to molex pin 3(Tx)

would this configuration require diode and resistor?

I am a quadriplegic living in the US and have an Invacare TDX – SP powerchair.
I want to change the default settings for the controller.
I found this cable on eBay.

If I have someone change the plug according to this diagram.

And download the software onto my Windows 10 PC

Yes, unless its R-net.

Not sure about the cable being correct but woodygb will be along soon!

As long as its PGDT, or you will need different software.

I'd now recommend a lead with the FTDI chip set.

The build for the FTDI lead is described by nick in this guide ...viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5523...the plug is of course different for a wheelchair.

OK, so I got the cable working somewhat, I think... The Kenwood cable I got looked just like the one in the pictures, but when I cut the end off it only has three wires (black, red, and white). So I installed the cable drivers on my PC, twisted the white and red wires together, and connected it to my chair plugs. I setup the software to the same comm port as the cable. With the cable hooked up to the chair, I powered on the controls and it seems to go into the diagnostics mode or whatever (the leds flash and run across the meter bar). In the program though, in the lower right corner, it keeps flashing between "comms inactive" and "comms active", and when it flashes to active the box next to it says VR2. But it won't stay active, in goes right back to "comms inactive", and then a second or so later it's "active" again, and just keeps flashing between the two...

Any ideas?

Did you use the diode when you made the up the cable? I have a cable I made up without the diode and it does the same thing. What operating system are you using? The cable that I made up will work fine with Win. 7 Home 64 bit, and XP Home 32 bit, but will do what yours is doing with XP Pro.
