Q700R wheelchair. Compensation of the motors is set at 40 mOhms, should I increase that? And torque is set at 100%, should I decrease it? I don’t want the chair to be jerky?

Leave compensation alone. Should be 35 or 40 on 8mph motors. If the wheelchair is jerky at very low speeds when you are just setting off decrease torque. But that will make it hesitant to start a turn in place. So set to what you prefer.

Do you have any sort of normal hand control?
I note that you have turn acceleration and turn deceleration, as well as minimum turn acc, and minimum turn dec all set to ludicrously low figures. Theres no hope of ever steering a powerchair at those settings and it actually going where you want.

In order to make it respond proportionally WHEN YOU DO. And in order that it stops turning WHEN YOU TELL IT, those 4 settings must be set to around 90 or 100. At the very least 70. If not then it will keep turning long after you centre the stick. Even after you steer the opposite way. It will still be turning the WRONG way

All four of them. Settings those to 12 or 14 or similar will make it completely uncontrollable.

If its then too sudden or jerky for you then reduce the TURN SPEED, and MINIMUM TURN SPEED. Instead. So it is not very sensitive.

Imagine a computer mouse. You move the mouse so that you expect the pointer to follow. You move the mouse 1 inch and stop. But the pointer on the screen doesent. It gradually starts moving and then gets faster and faster and so overshoots the thing you were going to click on. And it keeps on going long after you stopped moving the mouse. Past the point where you wanted it to go. So you move it the opposite way. But it keeps going in the same direction as before. Eventually it slows and stops and starts going the other way. And overshoots again.

THIS is what happens when those four turn acceeration/deceleration settings are at less than 100.

When at 100 the mouse would simply do what you tell it. And when you tell it. It becomes linear, proportional. It follows your hand/mouse. If its too sensitive you would turn down the mouse speed. Not its acceleration. Thats the same as turn speed, min turn speed.

Thank you for your suggestions and I understand what you want to say. However those were the settings that came with the chair and I am still programming it. I upload the latest settings and they are still not final. I turned all settings you suggested to 50 because they put a limit and I can’t go over 50, please see the screenshot. I wish I would find where I can remove their inhibit.

I do not have normal hand control but still find a way to have some control but not as much as I want.

Dont forget that once you set all the turn accelerations and decelerations to say 80 to 100 you must disable the gyro. Or it will be terrible and jerky!

I refer to the Ctrl + 5 switch box, I understand that one can assign a different function to a button. But I cannot see any Assign Button programming in my settings. Does anyone know how to do? Thank you.

I will check again and make sure that motor compensation is set at 40.

Regarding assign buttons here is my list. You said it’s at the end of your programming list, what is the name of your list where you have the assign buttons? Thank you.

Switch-it
As in the file I posted above, right at the bottom.
I dont understand why you are not seeing that in your file.
Did you download your settings file to the desktop? And edit it?

You ARE using the SUNRISE OEM version of the software right?

I see it in the FIRST file you attached on this page. And then its missing in the s.r-net file you atached later.

BM, now I figured out why certain settings were missing. I also had the generic software and probably I used that to open the settings. Now I am opening the file with the OEM software and those settings are showing up. So with your help I managed to solve this mystery, thank you so much.

I understand to change the function of the CTRL+5 box’s buttons I have to go to the heading SWITCH-IT. Right?

During programming I came to these terms “Fast Brake Rate” and “Soft Stop Rate”, what is the function of these terms? Do they mean more or less the same thing?

Fast Brake Rate
How quickly it stops if you shit yourself while going along and yank the joystick backwards. Basically like a car doing an emergency stop because a child ran in the road. Value 0-200.

Soft Stop Rate
How quickly it stops if you turn it off while going along. Value 0-200.

I refer to the CTRL + 5 switch box. I have one with toggle switches. I want to attach an extension to these toggle switches so it will be easier for me to operate them. Has anyone opened one of these boxes? I want to know if there are small metal levers (like those found on toggle switches, please see the second picture) under the white rubber/plastic cover? And can the white rubber/plastic cover be replaced if damaged?

As always thank you for your help.

Hello, I would like to know the following information. How do you get access to the batteries of the Q700R Quickie wheelchair? Does the battery box slide forward? Thank you in advance for your help.

R-net electronics. Fast brake rate has a programmable range from 0 to 200. I do not know exactly how this works. What happens to the chair the higher you set this number? I want to chair to stop slowly. Thank you in advance for your help.

If you want the chair to stop slowly when you RELEASE the stick then you would set a low figure for the forward deceleration. Like 20. As stock thats set too high. It makes it uncomfortable to use the chair outdoors. This is like when you take your foot off the gas in a car.

Minimum deceleration does the same at low speeds. So set that low too.

The fast brake rate is for when you WANT to stop fast and I use that all the time. Set it to any figure you want. That is for the maximum brake rate when you are going forwards at some speed, and you pull the stick backwards behind the middle to the reverse position. That is your brake. This is like when you put your foot on the brake in a car. And it is proportional like a cars brake. Pull it back part way and you slow more gradually. Pull it back all the way and you can stop as fast as tyre traction allows. I rely on that 100s of times a day to save my bacon while behaving like a lunatic. I always have, and at 61 show few signs of changing. That has to work... Its what stops me breaking my legs.

So that you want this set to say 70 or more so that you CAN stop fast when a kid steps out in front of you or when driving like a madman so that you dont roll into a wall or whatever. If set to 70 to 100 on most chairs thats as much as you need. It can stop you fast. And you want it to be able to do that. Or mow down an old lady or drive off the quayside... Smash into a closed door.

I am having JSM joystick error 080A. This error is not happening because I am touching the joystick while switching on the control box. The control box may switch on well but after a while this error comes back. When the control box switches on correctly and I drive the chair and release the joystick the chair stops but after a while the chair MAY start to move slowly on its own. So sometimes the joystick is not holding in its center and this is very annoying and can be dangerous. I checked the plug of the joystick for looseness and made it tight as much as I could. It may work good for some days but then the problem comes again. Has anyone experienced this type of joystick problem?
