Not the Q700. But the slightly cheaper Q500 mid, and hybrid is. You wont get the rear drive one in the us though. Beats me why. Or a centre footplate I think.

The difference between the 500 and 700 is that the 500 lacks good front suspension, no gyro, and unlike the Q700 it starts with low spec control system and 2 pole motors. It can be up specced to have R-Net 120, 4 pole, higher speeds, just the same. Grp24, and any seating options you need. I dont think they offer a centre footrest in the US though.

you can get a center foot rest on that chair i believe - it uses the same seating as there MWD chairs - or it can be done by 3rd party for center foot - or seating - but i am pretty sure with that model chair only you can get the same seating as the MWD with the center foot - i could be wrong also -

i got a center plate on mines - but not from sunrise - its not the 500 either - look at the sunrise site

Burgerman have you started using this chair yet or still in prep mode getting all the things you wants changed done first?

I know you have been bed bound a lot lately but are you getting up at all and if so what chair or chairs are you using?

Also do you see yourself going back to or using the BM3 models again?

The Q700R has been modded and finished. Other than 200Ah lithium.(I will do the Salsa and the Q700 at the same time. I have only tested it 5 or 6 times indoors, and up and down the street and in the driveway, and once into town and back. It still needs a bolt for the van. As does the Salsa.

Works OK. I dont like that stupid swinging rear axle (sprit level technology!) thing. I am going to bolt it up solid. Which is simple to do. It still has 4 wheel independent suspension. That swinging thing is marketing bullshit that makes the chair behave weird! It was a great idea when the stock chair is super nose heavy. The chair angle tries to follows the level of the ground that the FRONT casters and all your eight were/are on. The swinging rear axle thing allows the rear tyres to maintain ground contact.

And when you move CG back over rear wheels thats wrong! When you fix the daft CG issue that all rear drive chairs have from new, it doesent work.
The original idea was that on the usual wildly nose heavy chair, instead of lifting a rear wheel of the deck over a tree root, or uneven surfaces or at the top of a ramp and turn, and losing traction/control. The rear swinging (spirit level marketing) axle moves to maintain rear wheel ground contact and so control.

But its not needed with centre footplate and seat located rearwards. Because its a CASTER that lifts in those situations. You are sat over the rear. Which doesent matter. The 4 wheel independent suspension takes care of that anyway. What it does do is allow "body roll" like a car. As now the casters (and so chair angle) have less weight over them. So it feels odd. When I get chance, two M8 short bolts will cure that! :shifty:

Other than that it feels EXACTLY the same as the Salsa.

BM2 are all knackered and abandoned. BM1 (an unused new one!) is used for driving and in van. Since its 100kg lighter! BM3 has been waiting for a new motor for years but pressure sores and time has so far not let be deal with it athough I have 2 new motors ready. But my biggest issue is that now it looks like age and pressure sores are forcing me to use a chair with lift/tilt/recline/power legs most of the time. So I have to have a big heavy chair that feels like a wobbly jelly in comparison to my light taught BM chairs, just to stay out of this bed! So not sure whats happening right now!

hi bm you just answered a question before i even asked it!i was just about to post asking about this same suspension but on a puma and i wanted to ask if its a good idea this swivel arrangement or if i could just bolt it rigid, this is the puma 40 rear system complete with fake rubber shocks, which are going in the bin shortly!
but is this same as you mention?

Works the same way yes. The Q700 and 500 F and R chairs are a similar design as they are basically newer versions based on the old puma you have. lthough the parts are very different. Maybe the shocks from a Q700 might fit. https://www.sunrisemedical.co.uk/powere ... -sedeo-pro

Duke,

You think that rubber donuts are "fake" shocks, but the Mooney series of light aircraft very successfully used them. Chosen with care, rubber of the right formulation, and not age-hardened, can be a pretty effective way of converting mechanical stress into heat which is what any shock absorber does.

As used in the original mini, and in the many trailer suspension systems. Even used on some hgv trailers.

But they may be too big as in too high for the job. So lower rating ones need to be used. On some chairs they are chosen by the prescription order form. By reference to the user weight/seating options. So maybe lighter ones are available.

Much of the problem with wheelchair suspention though is that it has limited travel. Frequently under an inch.

Another part of the problem is that because most chairs have the motor as part of the swingarm or suspension, is that it makes for a lot of "unsprung weight" - or the part of the vehicle that is NOT supported by the suspension, both in absolute terms and as a percentage of the total... This increases the inertia of the suspension so that it is slower to respond to bumps and instead passes them onto the rest of the vehicle... Same concept applies to cars, motorcycles, etc. and is one of the reasons that big cars ride smoother than little ones, the weight of the unsprung parts is a much lower percentage of the vehicle weight on the big cars.

I got the Q500F. It's a nice compact little chair.

It's the same as the Q500R except the seat is the right way round  .

And it comes with a centre mount foot plate as a stock option without any mucking about changing casters
or taking a hacksaw to anything etc.

So does the Q500/700R you choose which on the order form. But the smaller tyres allow a better seating position. So that you can drive forwards instead of reversing around everywhere as you do in the 500F :fencing

I have just received Q700R wheelchair and have to do a lot of adjustments. One of them is fitting a joystick Knob, Ball, Ø 35 mm ordering number QSE090508. I ordered this item with the chair as an option and thought they were going to mount it but the joystick came like this picture

. What should I do to mount this joystick knob ball? Do I have to cut the rubber and press the joystick ball knob onto the joystick?

Twist and pull ...it is a simple push fit.

If you ordered this with the chair I would ask why its not fitted!

As above. Looks to have a metal insert already to push on?

But if not already drilled:

If you want to do it yourself then carefully remove the existing one. Measure the steel shaft diameter with vernier calipers (ebay digital vernier and these are now cheap). Then I cant see from the picture. If theres already a hole see if it fits. If no hole order a drill a few fractions of a mm (maybe .1 smaller) and drill it. It should now push on. IF its rubber. If its hard plastic you will need to drill the same sized hole and ise some loctite or something. Or drill a small M3 thread hole and tap that for a grub screw.

That could be painful!  Especially if they have tight suction holding them on like my C38 knobs.

If its an official PGDT one thats the case. If its an aftermarket one it may be drilled with a small pilot hole only. I have seen one of those too. So it can be drilled to fit various sized joysticks. But he ordered it with the chair, I think. So it will be a tick, on the prescription form, so a genuine part. And SHOULD have been fitted on arrival. But also should be plug and play DIY - quite literally.

I refer to Q700R chair with Sedeo Ergo seat which I recently got and was disappointed to discover that the backrest does not fully recline as advertised, see picture. I tried to change the profile regarding the recliner to make it recline more but was unsuccessful. Does anybody knows what to change in the programming to make it fully recline to 175 degrees? Or anyone has an already modified profile that can share with me?

I thank you in advance for the help you may offer.

No idea about ergo seating as I dont have it. Why do you think it goes to 175 degrees? As far as I know the only one that does that is the Ergo UP (stander) version at a silly price.

I can see the seat needs to go back around 7 bolt holes... It it will steer like an oil tanker.

The Ergo seat should recline flat as in the picture.

I already moved the seat back but left 1 hole because the footplates hit the tyres.

Well then I am not sure. It may well be in programming. But its one of those things where you need to be there to do a bunch of tests to figure it out.

Send me a copy of your settings and I will see if anything looks obvious.

Footplate hitting tyres can be helped with the smaller tyres I fitted, and throwing away the mudguards as they act like 11inch wheels and hit first!

You only gain an inch. But thats worth having.
