As it slowly lets air pass. 3RD ONE !

What do you mean by ‘As it slowly lets air pass. 3RD ONE !’? Do you mean you bought 3 pumps of the same model? Why was that?

All 3 pumps allowed air to slowly escape via the piston in the tube. All same make. Swapped by Amazon...
But I suspect they will whatever the make. Its only a tiny loss but we are talking about very tiny differences in pressure here.

So I gave up on trying to get a perfect non leaky pump. And ordered those tiny one way valves instead. So that now THEY prevent air leaking back out from the pump. I should have done this to start with...

So the only difference is that I am now adding a one way check valve, directly after the pump. Maybe 2 or 3 inches from the end. Then the pressure n the cushion and pipework etc doesent slowly fall as you watch!

THESE work. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283318275086

These also work, with spring - image below.
The other cheap ones with silicone only inside in various colours dont and are rubbish!

You put one way valves to prevent air leaking back out from the pump. Does that mean that the silicone grease is no longer needed? And that it is okay to use the pump that came with Roho?

You might get away with the roho pump. With a 1 way valve. But it tries to pump a lot of air at once. due to its diameter. So personally I would still use the smaller one. It allows better control. Try it.

When you assemble he pipes. Use a small smear of evo stick or other contact adhesive like bostic or rubber solution glue or something. It acts as a lubricant and seals all the push on connections because surprisingly, those do leak air slowly. I tested with soapy water when looking at were the air was going!

Yes, no silicone grease needed. Other than on the threads of those little plastic air valves. Or those leak slightly. But you can use vaseline or ordinary grease there.

BM, In the picture of your digital gadget where I highlighted in yellow it looks there are two tubes that come to one tube, are you using a y connector there? (please see picture)

You also mentioned about a brass reducer (please see picture), where are you using it?

As always thank you for your help.

If you order the tubing from my link the Y connector is included.
You dont need the brass connector.

Since getting my new Dietz chair, I find the Jay Ion cushion too slippery to sit on even when the seat was tilted back. Plus it made my bum sore in a very short space of time.

So now I'm having to retrofit my old Recaro seat to the bigger seat board I bought. The original Sego seat was too short and was dangerous for transfers since I could've slipped off it very easily.

An impact driver made the job much easier for Melissa to adjust the seat length and hip guides. Like BM says, it's the best tool for working on chairs.

Right. A news report, roll drums, twang bass, etc. Like the bbc thing.

Fingers still crossed.
Been getting up for a few months now almost daily for 5 to 6 hours. THIS is what I do:

1. Air bed. Alternating. Promotes blood circulation on pressure points and oxigenation. It works and isnt comfortable.

2. ALWAYS turned every 4 to 6 hours regardless, when on my bed. Also very very uncomfortable.

3. SCRUPULOUS cleanliness. As in if you wouldnt want to eat off my backside then its just not clean enough. I use a disinfectant "dettol" or similar diluted in water and carefully dried at least daily. Sometimes twice daily if hot. My carers love it. They get to examine and wash the furers backside! How ucky are they!

4. No transfer board, only transfer by a electric patient hoist. And sling. Which is slow and hard work.

5. CAREFULLY set up Roho (the one with 4 chambers), full profile, that is the exact width of my ass. And reaches my knees (back of) to within 2 inches. By carefully set up I mean my ex, and 3 carers all gave subjective judgments using the plastic bag/hand test on both my ischael tuberosities.(ass blones...) so that they all averaged at 20mm or less. And I measured and check/maintain that lowest possible pressure with the gadget I made up.

6. Tilt/recline/legs lifted when I get chance and at least 2 to 3 mins every hour worst case. To oxygenize skin cells with bloodflow.

One of more of these things appears to have done the trick so far. In the last 4 years I wasnt able to get up more than 2 to 4 days before "it" came back.

I am not sure what it is from the above list. Maybe all of it. I suspect the tilt etc helps. And the ultra low pressure roho. And the hoist. But most of all I think the dettol and endless washing and drying has helped here. And against medicaladvice no dressings. So looking very promising! cheers

Thanks both! Me too.

I forgot to add. Against all medical advice, NO dressings. They appear to be part of the problem.

I'd sort of be inclined to agree... A dressing is inherently going to be making a bump on the surface it is applied to (at least until they perfect the zero-thickness version  ) a bump is going to create a high pressure point on what's under it, which seems like the last thing you'd want... If anything I'd want a dressing on everything BUT the problem area in order to keep more pressure off of it.... OTOH a dressing is also likely to be a moisture trap, so again not ideal...

I'd be a bit more questioning about the use of heavy cleaning agents since they seem likely to disrupt the bodies natural skin chemistry, but the general idea of clean certainly seems right.

Does any one know a place that sells wedged cushions? The cushion I have is flat at the back and raises under my thighs to about 25-30 degrees sloped angle.

Melissa tried making me one from an old foam mattress, but without the proper cutting tools it's hard to make a smooth cut. Any suggestions on foam cutting tools please?

My old cushion is about 18in wide by 17in length.

Thanks,

Steve

Foam cutting. You need a hot wire. And two triangular shaped heat proof formers. Like a couple of bits of aluminum sheet.

Your PL8 has a constant current hot wire cutting setting. But you can just use a variable power supply too.

You stick the templates on the ends of the foam with carpet glue. Then use a bow with stretched wire like a guitar string. But thinner.

You dont need the power supply you already have one...

Polyurethane emits toxic gasses if you try to cut it with a hot wire. Please be careful.

And stinks horribly... Better outside!

If you go on ebay there are many people cutting all kinds of foam including wedges to order. You want the harder partical foam, conglomerate foam all made from small bits glued together as its firm.

Thanks BM & Lenny for the advice. Any stinky jobs are done outside. :fart

And I just realised I meant 5-10 degrees angle, not 25-30! czy banghead

Why not adjust the seat dump base angle instead?

Not possible BM as the seat frame has the suspension springs under the seat on my old chair, and it has a piece of wood at the front of the seat to stop the cushion sliding forwards.

I've always used a wedged cushion.

Check out ebay Steve - they sell them for acid reflux in medical and mobility. They will be wider than you want but you can cut them with a bread knife to the size you want.

I have been using the Star Galaxy cushion for the past few months after many failures such as the Jay Fusion AIr reduced profile etc.

This is the most supportive, comfortable while maintaining a lower profile.

Looking at those they will perform in exctly the same way as the Roho. The only difference would be how long each lasts and how much each costs really.

In case you get desperate for an alternative. These pool saddle floats are easy to cut with a sharp knife. I use them on my shower chair and they hold up well. Is has a coating (vinyl) that makes a nice smooth surface. Many pool floats do not have the coating. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B094X2N1RF/re ... RydWU&th=1

JAY Balance cushion
Improved deeper immersion. So less pressure at the deepest point and more floatation.
