New Chair

Postby expresso » 12 Mar 2021, 21:37

I finally got my new chair today - first time with a center plate - turns out - i like it - its a perfect size for me - not big - enough to just keep my feet on it - rubber coated - not bad -

now the tires - i have black tires waiting - same original sizes - i may put the larger ones on later - but for now will just change to black same tires size for rear

the fronts - i cant find a black tire - the same kind - in the size 280-250-4 - does anyone have a link or know of where i can find it in black - all the searching i do - grey shows only -

i checked the batteries - Feb. 2021 24 gel - i will have to check programming since it has recline - so the Rnet cable unplugs in the rear behind the seat back - have to remove cover to get to it - other than that - a few other adjustments - but seems pretty good -

That chairs frame and caster wheel spacing is quite narrow. So the centre footplate will not go back too far as the tyres will hit your heels. Or rater the rear corners of the footplate.

The 8 inch tyres I fitted to the Q700R chair will allow you to move the seat/footplate back, gain you around 1 inch overall in compactness...

Those will fit the same wheels etc. They are 8 x 3.00 - 4 smooth. And black...

i have black tires here - they seem smaller than these - for some reason these seem larger than my others that all show same size 280-250-4 -

maybe i should get a pair of those you used in case when i move it back the seating - if it dosnt fit with the tires i have - can use the smaller ones they may not touch being i would be in a little tilt also -

recline feels great though - i will use the stock tires in black once i get them for now - but i was thinking of adding in the street tires i have but not as wide -this time - not sure cant decide yet

but those same tires in the front - cant find them no where in black -

Because tyre sizes are NOMINAL. They all vary

YES!!!

Not sure yet - which i want or will end up with - since looking at the chair - if the seating does go back like my other chair - i will have to see if it clears the tires - it may -

Ok the original tires that are on the chair now - grey front tires - Those tires - i was trying to find the same one - same size but in black - and its impossible to find the same tire in black for some reason

i have a pair of kenda in black - i used them before - i have another set in black also - the same tires that come on the V6 chairs - maybe i get a pair of those also just to have in case one dont work or just wait to see if it works first -

the rear tires - i am un decided either - for the time being i will use the stock tires in black - i have a set already on rims - i was suppose to have them on my chair - but they are not there - was told they are getting me the black tires and will have tech come to install them - i said fine -

but i also have a set of rims with 350-8 tires installed also - a spare set for my other chair - if i should need -- with this chair - i was thinking of trying these -

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Bridgestone- ... 01&veh=sem

to see how they look fit the rim -etc, - i may after i wear out the stock tires - wont take long - one summer with those - they are cheaper made - i feel safer with the road tires -

https://www.electricscooterparts.com/ti ... .80-2.50-4

i have the kenda and the one above it - which comes on the V6 chairs

one pair each left - i will use either one for now - i may just get a pair of the slicks anyway

https://www.bikebandit.com/tires-tubes/ ... ire/p/3373

90/90 - i am thinking of trying these also - not as wide as the 350-8 i have on the other chair - - curious to try them - may fit nicer or not - or use same 350-8 - these things last many years - so once i pick one and install - would be years before changing

No! THAT would drive me mental having those things stuck out behind me. :cussing

The chairs you have are the 500 spec ones, and its a Q500H which is Hybrid. Rear casters on the ground like mid drive. Dont think you actually have the rear drive version over there? Maybe not here I will look.

We have the Q500 too. In mid, centre, and proper rear drive with no casters on the deck. At least I think so.

My chair is a little different. Its the Q700R. It has no rear casters, just elevated anti tips. The 700 is a bit higher spec, but quite similar. Slightly better front/rear suspension. Slightly longer wheelbase too I think. Can be Front or Mid or Rear drive.

thanks BM - i seen some of those - those Air Plane tires - i think they may be too hard - the ones from aliexpress - 6 dollars sounds good - till you add in the shipping - costs more than getting them here -

and after all those links and google - Still cant find the same tire that came with the chair in black - strange - the original tires all you can find are grey - and then foam filled mostly

must be a well kept secret if they have them in black

i will most likely get a pair of the slicks -

yes same here - i dont like them on the ground - my new chair has them up off the ground but not as high as my other chair - they told me its for safely because this chair has the recline feature etc, - i will see how it works out or else i will do something about it myself

my options i think will be - first can swap out to smaller wheels 3 inch instead of the 4 inch it has now - which may be all thats needed - 2. i can add a washer in the spot that would affect it and i believe lift it up more - or 3. when if i change the rear tires to road tires - usually larger OD and raises it up - one of those will work

but before i do anything - i will use it first -

In the UK we have the Q500R rear drive.
https://www.sunrisemedical.co.uk/q500r
And loads of options like a power centre footplate and all the rest.

And the Q700R too. Like mine...
https://www.sunrisemedical.co.uk/powere ... -sedeo-pro

And another version with more expensive seating... And a Q100R Q200R, a Q300 and 400, and 500... And obviously the 700.

My new Dietz chair is coming with black tyres from new. Never understood why American powerchair companies limit the choice of what you can order. czy

i have enough tubes here - i will double check - last time i checked - i had a box full of tubes - different sizes - since all my chairs use them now -

i have to plug in the programmer soon to check if i can speed up the seat lift - its not fast going up or down - dont need it super fast but a bit more would be good -

with the programmer i can check if i have a PM 120A ? if it allows me to set it to 120A - means i have it ?

i dont trust them any more - the manufactor sunrise rep etc,

This black tyre thing baffles me. I swapped my "institutional" grey for black in 97. Everyone was terrified of marks, told me what a terrible idea it was. 23 YEARS LATER every chair offered new ONLY has black tyres... What gives. It took them 23 years to figure out that black tyres look better, dont mark, and last longer? :argument

The reason expressos new chair is only offered with grey is because thats how they designed it long ago. Nobody has introduced a new rear drive chair for many years. Things with the grey tyre thing moved on. But they still build them the same.

They sell front, mid, and "hybrid" chairs, that are exactly the same as the Q500 range that we have here. But no 700? And non of the rear drive ones??? Again, what gives?

They obviously MAKE them, as they are available here! They just wont let you lot have them! :shifty:

In the UK we have the Q500R rear drive.

You cannot speed up the set lift. You can speed up the chair when the seat lift is up if you are brave.
You can see if its 120A too.

ok great - this chairs comes with a small motor in the front of the battery box - with two wires cables going back to the anti tippers - from what i know its suppose to adjust them as needed - somehow - i dont see how it would do it

it would have to be programmed in ? maybe i can adjust it in the settings if thats the case -

the previous chair - i received it without this motor cables attached - this one its there - i want to fix the cable so it dosnt stick out or show - you may be able to see it in the picture above
