The setup file points to a broken URL, as I get this error...

And the log file shows this...

i havent tired it yet - but i guess it would be broken for me also ?

what if you uninstall it - and download it again from the site - starting over - i guess i would loose all the presets that way ?

When you run CCS it should update itself to version 1.19 which contains firmware 3.36. If you uninstall it then you're screwed until Revolectrix fix the download link. I have an archived copy of the latest CCS on another drive, so I can run it on another PC without having to install it.

The presets are lost when you update the firmware as this factory resets the PL8, so backup beforehand.

Doesn't work here BM, same error as above. So somethings blocking that connection on my PC. :problem: Although if I delete the CCS directories and then click the PL8 link from the start menu, it re-downloads CCS without any issues.

Strange, when I update the firmware on my PL8 it resets to the original factory presets. Maybe the later PL8s stores them in a different location that doesn't get reset.

Re: PL8 Update

i had them all saved and ready to reinstall but didnt have to - who knows when i ever get around to the my others which are not in use now - what they will do - but so far i never lost any - i was expecting them to be gone -

and there they were - my oldest charger has to be at least 5 years old - i may not be using the oldest - who knows - usually when i buy a new charger - i start using the new one to be sure its working - and store the old one that i know works -

maybe the others may not store them - or may all be fine -

When using this newer firmware, I've noticed the IR readings are more stable, e.g. All cells are 0.6-1.0mOhms now. Whereas before cell 8 would report higher values than the rest. Has anyone else noticed this?

When programmers add a new feature or fix a problem they inevitably spot other issues, bad code, errors etc and tidy those up as they work. Maybe as simple as a comma in the wrong place or a line of code that was wrong. This is why its ALWAYS best to move to the newest firmware or software for anything you own.

So thats quite likely.

For whatever it's worth, someone pointed at a shop a couple of weeks back, and they don't SAY that they are out of stock....

https://www.progressiverc.com/products/fma-powerlab-8-v2?variant=34490674446471

It let me put the charger in my 'cart' - I haven't tried to check out, so no promises.

@expresso: you are welcome :oops:

I tried to install new PL8 software on my laptop by BM's link. Installing was fine but PL8 software failed to connect to the charger through BT. Then I downloaded and ran the setup from Revolectric site. Now PL8 software successfully connects to the charger.

Been out of stock for a year so you will be lucky.

You need a handful of 36 inch 8s balance cables, and a FUIM3 to connect to the PC from revolectrix singapore or US depending where you live. Hopefully back in stock soon...
