Postby mrdragon1013 » 21 May 2021, 00:26

Hello all I have been searching for a week now banghead for the pinout for a quantum joystick 6 pin plug. Hopefully someone on here has it  It shouldn't matter the style or model for my purpose.
Thanks

I'm not sure what 2 of the pins are. DMS-L pin #5 and KEY-L pin 2# Any insight would be great.

This is a GUESS.

Key usually indicates the ON pin

L stands for LOW .... Pull the pin LOW to turn ON .

DMS is a mystery to me.

EDIT...It MIGHT be an Inhibit pin

Hah!...found a reference that makes sense.

Dead Man Switch

3. Dead man switch line (DMS) inhibits driving

Driving inhibited due to low DMS-line voltage

Perfect Thanks. I wonder if those weren't hooked up if the joystick would still function. I'm setting up a test bench with a full system minus the chair. When it's finished I can test that just asking in case somebody already knows.

Ok finally got the test bench set up the KEY-L pin 2# only shows as being a ground but if I remove it from the stick and run a separate ground to that pin i get an inhibit warning. The oscilloscope doesn't show anything either. czy I haven't even began messing with Pin 5 Yellow DMS-L yet banghead

Ok I just grounded the cord side instead of the stick and no more inhibit. Guess I'm to tired to think straight better quit while I'm ahead.

Rest and try again tomorrow.

Inhibit (active to ground/B-) is the norm.

FWIW the connectors are Molex mini fit jr series
https://www.amazon.com/Molex-Circuit-Wi ... 335&sr=8-5
I used those to make a new coiled attendant cable when the original fell apart.
The straight through cable worked as an extension for the joystick off of the splitter, but it would not work to connect the main drive motor controller to the seating controller, or the joystick directly to the motor controller. I always had to use the short male to female extension with the ferrite next to the controller.

I just checked that cable with the ferrite and all pins are wired straight through, but with 8 ohms series resistance on each pin.

It gets more interesting. When the 3 port splitter with ferrite is connected in place of that short extension, any joysticks connected to it function fine, but the seating module cannot be seen, even though it is connected. The splitter has 10.7ohms in series on each of the 6 pins x 3 ports. The thing which I assume is the key, 2 pins and shrink tube, connected to seating module measures 4ohms between its 2 pins.
