R-Net PM M1 Brake error

Postby acid_coke » 04 Jun 2021, 10:48

Hello Guys,

I'm having some issues with the brakes/PM of my chair. When I'm driving sometimes my chair abruptly engages both brakes and the chair comes to a full stop. The screen then says PM M1 Brake error.
Afterwards it feels like the left brake is more "loose".

Restarting and manually disengaging and reengaging the brake seems to fix the error temporarly.
The manual reengaging of the left brake doesn't make the correct clicking sound.

How would you diagnose the error? My idea was to replug the motor from the PM and go further from there.

Have you experienced this kind of error beefore? What's more likely: damaged brake or damaged PM?

or damaged or mis-adjusted microswitch that tells the PM "brake open"

Is this a chair you programmed?
If you set brake to 24V instead of 12V then the brake gradually toasts itself and burns off all the laquer from its windings. It then draws high current, and doesent release properly.

They are set to 24 V.

I did programm the chair, but made sure to not change anything brake related.

But after it was once repaired by the dealer, the wheelchair's PM was set to 80 A lnstead of 120 A.
So I wouldn't be surprised if they also screwed the brakes up.

How can I find out the correct voltage for the brakes?

Normally written on motor case. What chair is it?

Do you have the manufacturer email? Ask them for a copy of original programming by chair serial. Then look!

It's a Degonda TurboTwist T4.
Are the 24V on the motor referencing the brake voltage?

I'll need to look it up or maybe I can give them a call.

They wont know. You are speaking to "experts".

Just ask them for a link to your original programming file. Also what chair is this? The picture isnt helpful.

For e.g all sunrise chairs are 12V brake. Others are not. Or may be not. But I have seen these melted and shorted before when set incorrectly to 24V havent we seegreen? An EXPERT charged him around 1k to program his chair for him. This is why I dont advise asking them, calling them, or listening to them or watching youtube, etc. The world is full of idiots claiming to know stuff. I put his motor on the bench and measured around 8 ohms on one brake... Should be around 50 to hundreds. And they did not "click" when they should when tested on my power supply.. Destroyed the brake coil.

Theres another way to find out.
If you have a bench adjustable supply.
Connect and gradually increase the voltage untill the brake clicks. Thats normally around 6 to 8 volts on most 12V brakes. And double that on 24V ones. But if already damaged that will no longer be true. So watch for excess current. And heat as you power the coil.

Could still be the microswitch as lenny mentioned too on the freewheel lever.
