Hoveround MPV5 with VSI controller, no speed adjustment?

I recently came into ownership of a secondhand Hoveround MPV5 with a VSI controller and am trying to get it set up for my uncle. Once I got the programming cable and software set up, I was able to reset it to the defaults, and that helped some, but I do not seem to be able to adjust the speed up and down, nor can I switch between drive profiles if I enable them. Is this a case of failed buttons in the controller, or some other programming issue I'm missing?

Was wondering how you determined what its default settings were?
Setting the brake voltage and or motor compensation wrongly can be damaging or dangerous (runaway/no stop) situation for example? And every chair is different.

This was the one I dumped from the controller before doing anything with it.

I went ahead and opened up the joystick housing and cleaned the button pads, and that seems to have fixed the speed adjustment buttons.

Scroll down to FACTORY ...these settings are currently restricting those further up the page... so, make all those MAX ABS = 100% .
