It all depends. What do you plan to do with it?

looked like an easy way to discharge a pack faster than the PL8 -

i think there are other models 200watts - in the video they talk about 20A discharging etc, thats faster than PL 8

but also it can be done without the charger connected and can see it also

i guess just another tool - i mean if discharging a larger pack 200ah - would be nice to do it a bit faster - not the end of the world

i left the bounder 100ah for i think it was 28 hours -

It depends. You really must learn ohms law. And to understand whats going on. 150w div by 20A = 7.5V. So it can discharge a 7.5V pack at 20A. But we dont have any 7.5V packs. So it can discharge 1 cell at 20A max. Or a full 28.8v pack at 150w div by the voltage, so 5.2A.

A truck 24v headlamp bulb, is about the same load but cheaper. Or 2 car ones at 12v in series = same thing.

ok then - not good for our needs

i seen the videos - they were discharging lithium cells - i may be missing something

take a look - youtube videos on it - it seems like a faster way to discharge out packs with data to see how much the Cap. was etc,

if its not faster than the PL8 or even if it is but not by much - then no big deal - dont need it - a single cell is fine does 10A discharge - its the pack that takes a long time -

i dont need more tools if they are not useful to me - i have enough stuff that i dont use or one time use - like the helicoil repair - wont be used again thats for sure

If I were you I would instead get one of these. Its an AC inverter. Connect to your chair or battery with its anderson connector or similar. Then take 10W or 100W or 500w or up to 1000W out. By powering a heater or a hair dryer or whaever you want.

This is a 1000W continuous inverter. Choose 24V and 110V. Ignore that 6000W bullshit thats just intermittent starting current for things like big motors or fridges.

The advantage is that when you get a power cut you can stil power your fridge, electric bed, lights, computer, phone chargers etc while your neihbours ant... Straiht from your chairs.

i have one but not powerful - maybe 600 watt - i got it for lights in case something happens - i can plugin my lights at least using the lead battery i i have

maybe i should get a bigger one - but that wont tell me how much amps are coming out or how much it takes out etc, - i would still need something to tell me or use PL8 ?

i do have some other device i used with the dump load - that tells me the watt out etc, - i have to look at that again - if it tells me the Cap. out i always used the PL 8 to be sure and to have it stop

Ohms law is so simple that he doesent really need a book. Just a few simple xamples on here.

And if he cant multiply or divide then https://ohmslawcalculator.com/ohms-law-calculator

In my recall , you have a very powerful tools already , which can take more than 40A that PL8 could deliver .

Is it fast enough ? :dance

nobody NEEDS a book. but years ago, when i was apprenticed to an inventor, technician and ocilloscope repairman i was introduced to bernard grob's book.it covers all the material.ohms law to complex network analysis.it's still the standard.still taught in schools.his explanation of resistances and how they work is fundamental classic. it sure has helped me
