Permobil F3 rnet

Postby DoorwaysOpen » 18 Dec 2021, 20:02

On a permobil F3 we were replacing the battery, while replacing the battery the cord to the rnet cable frayed. We attempted to rewire it but that didn't work. Do you need the rnet to utilize the evice?

This is the part we're talking about: https://www.ebay.com/itm/124800784364?c ... SNEALw_wcB we're trying to get that replacement, but can't for at least two weeks.

Unfortunately r-net is made by pgdt and that part is not r-net. Its a permobil part and so not used on any other chairs.

Won't the chair work without it plugged in? It looks like an over-complex Bluetooth module. PGDT used to make a much smaller version.

The problem is the chair doesn't work without this device. It turns on but it doesn't start, it gives an error message. The Rnet cord isn't in there. It keeps flashing the turtle signal and doesn't respond to any movements.

This sort of permobil crap is why I always advise anyone listening to avoid permobil like the plague. Most other chairs use simple PGDT R=net controls and its all just plug and play. For e.g you could just unplug the module and carry on. Or buy one from the PGDT manufacturer or ebay and replace it. Not permobil...

A pointless gimmick “smart” feature that when fails renders you stuck is ridiculous.

Sorry we cant help more. But permobil... You are tied to their apron strings with their over complex home brewed systems. On purpose. Ad even they dont seem able to fix them. Its a system designed to extract as much money and dependence on them as possible.

Yeah but who doesn't want to be able to ask Alexa the battery level of their chair..... The price you pay.

And even then it wouldn't be accurate rover, if the batteries were used hard for a few hours and the indicator was on 2 flashing red LEDs. Wait 24hrs and Alexa would say batteries are full! czy banghead

Great if you need it. Provided it doesent make the chair unreliable ££££. Personally I would pay not to have it.

Update: we got the rnet part, overnight delivery. Put it in and.....the chair still doesn't work. Is there any kind of further thing we need to do, programming the chair or something?

Maybe. But how you do this for a permobil part is a mystery.

ConnectMe module is not necessary to drive. it's not effective to drive a chair. it just provides seat angle and gps..etc with mypermobil app.
so I think, it is possible to the other issue. not the module.
would let me know the error code on the joystick display?

Here is a video from the guy on youtube removing his from a newer F3.

Its possible that an inhibit sensor or something else got disturbed.

What I see there is a mass of over complication using permobil parts to tie you into their $$$system$$$ that avoids the simple r-net easy to fix and get parts. For no good reason other than its a job creation scheme for them. And they frequently cant even fix their own stuff.

I already took it off in my permobil m5 and F5VS. because it doesn't work in South Korea. so, this module is nothing related to driving or r-net system.
it doesn't make sense to couldn't move(drive) a chair without this useless module.

I'd be ripping all Permobil electronics off it and convert it to generic R-net parts with the ISM6-L, that way it'd be more reliable.

Not possible unless you also replace all the actuators.

Ah yes, hadn't thought of that! :fencing If I ever got a FREE one given to me, I'd strip it down completely to see the jumbled mess Permobil ties the user in to.

Want a power outlet from a F5VS for dash cam. Any suggestion for a neat connection ? What's the suitable place to tap on it ?

There should be an Rnet hub on the back of the seat beneath a plastic cover that is a bit tricky to remove without breaking. You can plug a yellow Rnet connector into the hub.
Easier will be the ICS hub on the right side behind the seat rail. It is where all the seating actuators plug in.
Another option is the Permobil connect module under the rear cover of the drive base. It has a LED and cellular radio. It is connected to the ICS hub with a cable which you can cut up if you dont need the connect module.

There are additional ICS and Rnet and lighting connectors on the main module under the front drivebase cover.
