R-net engineering setning

Postby Top1000 » 08 Jan 2022, 16:11

Can some explain to me what these settings do to the chair driving characteristics?

with some graphic images if possible.

thanks for the help in advance

I would advise to leave these settings well alone for everyday use. Only test what these do on an old knackered chair outdoors with plenty of space.

The r-net help tells what thy actually do. But having played I put them back as they are.

Hover the cursor over the line you want to know about. You will get a pop up description.

No. Tool tips are a different thing.

In windows 7, 10 etc the type of help files you would get under the r-net help was disabled as they say its not secure.
To RE enable it you need to swap 1 file in windows.

https://www.wheelchairdriver.com/progra ... 2win10.zip
OPEN the ZIP file.
Put the 3 files found inside on to your desktop. Run INSTALL.CMD file. But do so as ADMINISTRATOR. By right clicking it and choosing "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR". Now your help works as intended.

Then you get the complete official help files as already included in the R-Net programmer.
You need to replace the file in windows... With this one.

For e.g you can now choose help as below.

Image2.jpg

Which leads to a detailed complex menu and sub menu.

Here is shown the page about COMPENSATION. What it is, how to set it and how to test. Its a long page. Note scroll bar!

But a quick look and I cant find those 4 settings! But they are there somewhere, or if not in the R-Net manual. I was certain they were in here though. But dont have the time right now to look.

Found it!

You need to search for Low Forward, Soft Forward, Low Backlash, Soft Backlash, Low Spin, Soft Spin.

This page is very long. Around 80 pages length. See scrollbar on right. And very complex. It covers all 6 of those parameters. Its not simple.

You need to install the help file fix before you can see all the help stuff. Further up the page. Unless you are on an old operating system.

When you do it says:

Explanation

These parameters add exponentials to the start and end of the true acceleration gradient. The resulting s-curve softens the acceleration of the wheelchair when pulling away, to take up gearbox backlash, and when approaching the demanded speed, to avoid a sudden change of acceleration. Correct programming of these parameters is essential for smooth wheelchair operation and the durability of the motors and gearbox.

Low Backlash

This parameter sets the size of the curve when accelerating from zero. It is set as a percentage of the maximum fwd/rev speed. Therefore if Low Backlash is set to 25% the wheelchair will reach its true acceleration gradient after 25% of the maximum fwd/rev speed.

Adjustable in steps of 2% between 2 and 100%.

Soft Backlash

Image1.jpg

This parameter sets the starting gradient of the Backlash curve when accelerating from zero. It is set as a percentage of the acceleration gradient. Therefore the Soft Backlash is set to 25% the curve will start at a gradient ¼ of the size of the true acceleration gradient. The curve will then increase automatically to reach its true gradient at the Low Backlash point.

Adjustable in steps of 2% between 10 and 100%.

Low Forward

Image1.jpg

This parameter sets the size of the curve when nearing the final demand speed. It is set as a percentage of the overall fwd/rev speed. Therefore Low Forward is set to 25%, the acceleration will start to reduce (taper-off) when the wheelchair reaches 75% of its maximum fwd/rev speed

.Adjustable in steps of 2% between 2 and 100%.

Soft Forward

Image1.jpg

This parameter sets the finishing gradient of the Forward curve when nearing the final demand speed. It is set as a percentage of the acceleration gradient. Therefore if Soft Forward is set to 25% the curve will finish at a gradient ¼ of the size of the true acceleration gradient.

Adjustable in steps of 2% between 10 and 100%.

Whether a wheelchair is accelerating or decelerating in forwards or reverse direction Low / Soft Spin parameters take effect.

When a wheelchair is accelerating in forwards or reverse direction the Low / Soft Backlash parameters take effect.

When a wheelchair is turning only Low / Soft Spin parameters take effect.

Low Spin

Image1.jpg

This parameter sets the size of the curve when nearing the final spin demand level. It is set as a percentage of the maximum spin speed. Therefore if Low Spin is set to 25%, the acceleration will start to reduce (taper-off) when the wheelchair reaches 75% of its maximum spin speed.

Adjustable in steps of 2% between 2 and 100%.

Soft Spin

Image1.jpg

This parameter sets the finishing gradient of the Spin curve when nearing the final spin demand level. It is set as a percentage of the acceleration gradient. Therefore if Soft Forward is set to 25% the curve will finish at a gradient ¼ of the size of the true acceleration gradient.

Adjustable in steps of 2.5% between 10 and 100%.

All MUCH easier to understand with the diagram.
