Curtis 1228 EEPROM fault

Postby AdrianD » 16 Jan 2022, 10:33

Hello,

I have a Curtis 1228-2701 controller from a forklift with the EEPROM fault error (4/3 LED flashes). DS2003 IC and 93LC86 EEPROM were both faulty. I've replaced the EEPROM with a new one and DS2003 with ULN2003, but I can't access the controller using PC Programming station software. It stuck in reading and nothing happens. Can anyone pass me the EEPROM dump of a 1228 controller?

No but they seem pretty reasonably priced.

I have a few 1228's...how do you copy the EEPROM?

Have you previously had success communicating with a 1228 and which 1314 software version are you using?

You need to de-solder the memory and read it with a programmer. I don't know if you could read it by ISP (in-circuit serial programming). The software is 1314-4402 v4.6.7 and when it tries to communicate doesn't pop any error message, it's just stays on reading. However if I leave the controller without the EEPROM chip, in 10 seconds or so pops up the message that it can't communicate with the controller.

Have you previously managed to communicate with a 1228 using the 1314-4402 software?

What cable are you using for programming... genuine Curtis?

I doubt that I could dump the EEPROM ...but I do have an ISP reader.

Is my first controller, so, no. The cable is a clone. The person who sold it to me told me that is working with this controller. The problem with ISP reading is that sometimes won't work because being soldered to the pcb and others components.

Ah! ... A clone using a reprogrammed FTDI cable.

The later software may not like this clone.. so it might be worth trying with the earlier version 1314-4401.

I will send you a link in messages.
