Faulty Rhino Controller

Postby kelvintronic » 30 Mar 2022, 01:51

Hi,

I have a Rhino DS72KB01 that controls a CTM mobility scooter.

I have been able to get the diagnostics from the Wizard software and it reports "Controller Fault". Everything else checks out ok.

Does anyone there know if this fault refers to the Rhino itself? I was thinking that perhaps it might be related to the scooters control panel and perhaps there's a problem with the loom connecting the two.

If it is the Rhino, does anyone know any common faults that might result in this error?

Thanks

Sadly "controller fault" points to an internal failure of the Rhino.

Thanks Woody,

By the way... I planned on making a cable based on the diagram below that I found on this site:

dynamic hirose interface.jpg

I am in New Zealand and contacted a local support shop and they were happy to send me a cable. I used their cable successfully to read from the Rhino. I would like to point out that the diagram above is misleading. If BOTH the hirose and the D9 connectors are shown from the rear then it is correct. However, the hirose connector on the diagram shows the pin numbers - this means that if I was to wire it up based on the pin numbers it would not have not worked!

Here is a photo of the cable I used:

Thanks again :)

Thank you for pointing that out ...I thought that I had deleted all my early pics with the incorrect numbering.

The pic below is correct.

Cheers Woody,

I'll keep that one for reference.

Actually, you probably have deleted the offending pics. The pic I posted was in the FTP folder that contains the Wizard software.

I had to send back the cable I borrowed so I now need to make my own.

Unfortunately, I cannot source the Hirose connector. It seems they do not make them any more. Or perhaps they are only available in a molded plug and cable?

Does anyone know where I can source the plug?

Nope ...I usually make my own .

You could perhaps source a complete Dynamic cable.

Wow! You make you own Hirose connector - crazy.

I think I'll replace the plug on the pcb to a more favorable receptacle.

Cheers

Good Morning

I went through a similar situation, but in my case, it was with a DR50-A01, "error 9"

After much research and success, deciding to compare the components of the DR50 x DS72K, I found a transistor. "BSP78". changed , I made the exchange , and it worked perfectly again ,

maybe it will help you
