12v/24v Universal Inverter

Postby Arima » 25 Jun 2022, 21:06

Miserable spring this year...we finally broke 70 (21c) for the first time this year. Looking at Inverters cause I still need a way to discharge a pack. Some are labeled for a specific voltage...and some are advertised "Universal". Like this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/403703441620?_ ... %3A2563228

Is this a misleading ad? I should only get a 24v pure wave Inverter and not a modified wave or a square wave Inverter correct? Is there any reason to get 220v ac output? Living in the US all my appliances are 110 as far as I know.

If all your appliances are 110 theres no point getting a 240v one.

But be vary wary of the quality of cheap chinese high power inverters. If the price is that low you will get exactly what you pay for.

A bunch of 12 or 24v headlmp bulbs is the cheapest way to dicharge a pack.

Think I have a load (110v heater) already. When using lamp bulbs you are carefully monitoring for a low voltage condition? Went ahead and ordered this one which had some decent reviews. https://www.amazon.com/WZRELB-Inverter- ... ive&sr=1-3

Hopefully it will work well.

I have a few inverter, in case of power cuts.

Why are you discharging these batteries.
With lead theres only one reason, to measure capacity. And you cant do that with an inverter as they stop too soon automatically.
I use the PL8.

I set to do a controlled 20h discharge to 10.5, or 10.8v - whatever is correct for that battery and choose go. In this case 2 in series.

Like this. In this case it measured 74.023 Ah. (74023mAh) so far, and almost finished.

Thought a lithium pack needs a partial discharge so the cells do not sit with a full charge when not being used. Lead batteries should always be kept full. Correct me if I misunderstood.

The inverter should find multiple uses.

Yes lithium needs to be partly discharged to store it. So you could use it for that. You would need to fully charge, and then use some method to count out Ah such as the cheap hobby Ah counters. And manually stop it when you have removed around a third of the rated Ah. Also useful to have an inverter for when the lights go out. Anywhere between 40 to 70% charge is fine to store. With around 60% being best as it will drop slightly and different cells drop at different rates over time. Also every 3 months you should top up, balance, and then repeat the discharge.

What do you use for an inverter burger man? I’ve been browsing for a 24 V inverter to run things when the power goes out. What do you recommend? Only need 110 V.

Also...
Any needed to power things that use a switch mode power supply (most electrical things nowadays) generally require a true sine wave inverter. Or they wont work or work unreliably.

Some of mine are. Some use a stepped square wave. Which may not work on everything.

So choose carefully!

Think either of these would be any good?

Would mainly be used to power my bed and a lamp during power outage.

That would only need a small inverter. 300W would be overkill. 2000? czy
