Salsa M front bearings

Postby Dan » 03 Mar 2023, 20:47

Does any know the size/type of the front castor bearings that are used on the mid wheel drive Salsa M? Are the top and bottom the same?

Ebay says these ones.

They are rusted and probably stuck. What type of bearing puller can be used?

You mean the caster fork ones?

No idea but if they are siezed in then you best start soaking them in penetrating fluid or some oil and parafin mix or even wd 40 for a week. And then :hammer and drift. If you had greased those when assembled they would come out easily. Oily metal doesent rust. Likewise if stainless bearings were fitted in the first place they couldnt rust in place. At all. But thats not what they do. :fencing

The puller you show is the wrong way around. The caster fork should come out wit a tap :hammer and then its the impossible to remove bearings you cant usually remove.
