Ever heard of Rhino by Dynamic Controls, I've not

Postby Scooterman » 01 Nov 2025, 16:18

I had a sit on one of these mobility scooters today and quite liked it as it's not too big but and has some limited off-road ability, forest paths etc.

After doing some google came across this video which is handy. The controller is a RHINO DS180 which I've never heard of, their website: https://dynamiccontrols.com/products/rhino2/

Has anyone heard of them and possibility of getting a dongle and software for one? They look very similar to the S-Drive by PGDT.

Also do you reckon the small box next to controller is the BMS?

I've had a look around their website and apparently they're a New Zealand company.

Unusually the software is available on their website but it's only the dealer lite version, still that's better than nothing and may be enough. And I've downloaded and installed it and run it. It works fine, UI is just like PGDT software for s-drive and r-net.

The controller looks very much like an S-Drive, same/similar interface plugs. I'm wondering if Woody's homemade s-drive dongle would connect to the controller and work with the software? I don't know enough about computers or electronics to hazard a guess?

Dynamic has always been a newzealand company. With its latest owners being invacare. They make all the old dynamic chair stuff, and the linx new one. As far as scooters go I have no idea! Rhino is old though.

I don't want to know anything outside of VR2 and R-Net.
I don't like Invacare products either.

I would add VR2 to the list.

Look at it like this.
Once its used, or at least sold as "used" but brand new like all my R-Net stuff then its all the same price. So cost is not any different. In fact R-Net seems cheaper.

And its far more configurable, has many more different modules and options available. Such as seating and gyros, or BT or fancy screens so you can see what you are doing with all thee options. And OBP, and software that has at least 1000 options.

There is also more power.

Why consider VR2 when its the wore option, but it costs the same?

Theres ony 1 reason you would do this. An Rnet programming dongle is hard to find at a good price.

But unless you plan on becoming able bodied, the correct solution would be to get a dongle... And stock up on R-Net cheap parts.

BM: Have you any software in a file for dynamic controls I could download and have a look at?

The dealer software I downloaded has an accompanying folder with dealer settings access for all dynamic controllers both wheelchair and scooter.

BUT I was wondering if you might have their OEM software which might also cover their wheelchair and scooter controllers?

I've pick up a cheapish (used £50) dynamic controller from eBay to have a play around with.
