Bm should I fuse the charge cable at the battery?

Either end. So those non safe connectors blow the fuse instead of set fire to the cable. Battery end probably safest. Doesent really matter that much.

Thanks bm I'm trying to be safe as possible so that I don't drive my mom crazy.

I wish Icharger had safe connectors and pc software. In my opinion the lack of well developed pc software for all charges really takes alot of potential away from them. I would be happy if the charger was pc control only and just a display on the charger and a start stop button.

Me too. Theres many things about the PL8 which does all that stuff, and the ability to save graph, setting for different packs and the control and configurability that make it superior. The ichargers were always a 2nd best solution but it is what it is. The PL8s are no longer made sadly. It will do the job hopefully but may well have a bunch of hidden safety features to screw us up yet... Hopefully no cell balancing ones, or capacity limits etc.

Just a recommendation to anyone building a 8s pack withouta work bench/table . Purchase yourself a nice 3 tier tool service cart for building the pack on makes it very convenient. Then once finished the cart makes a nice mobile charging station. But don't think I would get metal

yes - i did the same - i ended getting two of them - i larger and one small - now i have them stuck in the closets - if i need them

i take one out to sit the pack on top to work on it - have a sheet of wood over the small one for a flat surface

Starting to take shape. Wrapped each cell in 1 thin layer of kaptone tape then used ultra thin permanent double sided tape to a sheet oh high temp silicone between for insulation then 3 bands of reinforced strapping tape 1 layer. I'm going to test these two next for capacity then repeat same for rest of the pack

i used them before also - easy to clip on and off

but might be better to make a cable with Ring ends - just screw it down - not only safer - better contact also

since it will take time to charge up and discharge etc, - i just recently decided to use the ring ends myself - with the clips they can come loose by mistake or if they slip and touch each other

like one of my girls did by mistake - i have since added rubber boots on my clips also -

i always used clips also till now - i still use them if its a quick thing - carefully

That's what I'm doing ring terminals. Mom said NO to the gator clips :argument they make her nervous

But if I were to get a pair of gator clips. My charger takes 4mm banana plugs would these gator clips work for charging/discharging each cell individually at 20 amps?

Or any recommendations links?

i just got these and added my own cable - i think i used 12 awg - added fuses and the banana ends

i had a bare clip and screwed them down on the ring end of a cable i had made before - but being bare - my girl had them touch -

so i made new ones from the link

https://www.amazon.com/WSERE-Alligator- ... 172&sr=8-3

if you can find them ready made - thats easier - but wont come fused - i couldnt find any that way

I found a xt60 to alligator clips fused with a 25 amp atc blade fuse. Will that work?
I doubt I charge over. 20amps when charging one cell at a time. How long you think it will take per cell at 20amps

yeah should work - having a fuse is good

when my girl had them touch and spark - it blew the fuse - so if i had no fuse - maybe damaged the charger - who knows

i then made a new cable with fuse - and rubber boots over the clips - the ones in the link i have now - but if i can i will use the ring ends now so once on and tighten down - wont come loose or touch etc,

25A is fine as long as you dont charge higher than that - or even stick at 20A charge with that one

20A a hour - 10 hours for a 200ah cell to fully charge from a full discharge -

Here's the alligator clips and fuse holder I got. Will this work just for charging one cell at a time at 20 Amps with a 25amp fuse. Only for the first charge?

No set to stop at 2.9V.

Be sure balance is off completely.

Ok ,
Will it drop to 2.9v before the Amps are at 2% of 20amps, I'll be discharging each cell individually at 20amps after charging them individually to 3.6v at 35amps

I'll set the voltage cutoff at 2.9v

The reason I'm asking is because in discharge settings it ask for voltage cutoff and the percentage of current to end on
