Hi there,

Thank you so much for sharing information on wheelchairs. My wheelchair has the PG newVSI controller, I am not quite satisfy with its driving experience and I learned from this site that I can reprogram it to make it work better, so I would like to try it. I have ordered a TTL-232R-3V3 cable and now I need the OEM programming software to work with it. Can anyone send me instruction for getting the software? Thanks again!

Looking for programming software for a newVSI controller. Helping out a friend who got a backup chair donated to him, but it is apparently set up something terrible.

Thanks in Advance! :)

(and, a RS-232 to TTL converter I built for programming radios 20 years ago will have a second life :) )

Good day! Please help to find software for s drive OEM. I assembled the cable according to your plan and checked it on the dealer version, but it has very limited capabilities!

UNINSTALL the genuine Wizard 5 ...Then install the modified / hacked version.

Actually ...the order should go like this ..

UNINSTALL the genuine Wizard 5 ...
Re-Install the genuine Wizard5... BUT DO NOT RUN IT.
Then install ALL the modified / Wizard 5 hacked versions files into the Wizard 5 folder.

Hi All,
I've got a Roma Sirocco power chair, with a newVSI 50 (labelled on the underside as D51161.01) controller which I'd like to reprogram to be less sluggish. I've got the USB cable + XLR plug on their way - would it be possible to get info on where to obtain the required software to handle the programming please?

Thanks in advance!

Everything is working like a charm now, thanks! :)

Had to improvise a bit on the cable in the end - built a working replacement using an Arduino Uno + the 1N4148 diode recommended at the start of the thread which has worked great.

Feels like a whole new chair now, it reacts as quickly as I do with no lag. Any thoughts of replacing it are completely gone!

Morning all. It's good to see the forum still thriving, as I've been away for a while.

I'm wondering if there is a way to remove an onboard battery charger in the programming? I cant find the option in the programmer or anything when searching here, although it may just be that I am not recognizing the appropriate terminology.

Any help would be grand.

edit, PG pilot plus system.

You probably need to alter an INHIBIT ( Inhibit 2 polarity) setting from HIGH to LOW .

MOST ( but not all ) onboard chargers inhibit HIGH ...whilst the standard off board charger inhibits LOW.

Woodygb, you legend!
That cleans up the wiring and removes a water ingress issue I was worried about.

NO.

You could use this as the basis for a programming cable.

I can make one based on a cheap PL2303 chipset USB lead for £15 ...PLUS POSTAGE or a more expensive FTDI chipset USB lead for £25 ...PLUS POSTAGE.

I have a genuine PGDT serial to XLR cable ( and a steam driven laptop with a genuine serial port to boot  )
I need to program a D50447.04 S-drive. I 'thought' I could connect to the charging port and program from there, but either I'm mistaken, or I have a fault.
I was thinking of making a molex to XLR adaptor ( I have the bits here) but I am unsure of correct pinouts, or if it would work. Would anyone be able to guide me please?

Use the pic posted above in this thread as a guide.

Take pins 3 and 4 of the Molex and connect them both to pin 3 of the XLR Socket....pin 1 of the Molex goes to pin 3 of the XLR Socket.

I seem to remember that the GENUINE PGDT cable requires the 24V positive ...So pin 2 of the Molex to would go pin 1 of the XLR.

EDIT ...Is your 3 pin charging port actually connected to the S-Drives Molex?

Hi Woody,

yes, the 2 pin XLR socket is connected to the 4 pin molex on the controller.

It's not a 'standard' mobility scooter! I'll post a couple of picture tomorrow ;)

looking at the picture above, and assuming +24v is required... wouldn't you be right with pin 1 molex to pin 2 xlr (GND) AND pin 2 molex to Pin 1 XLR (+24v)??
