wheelchair locked? Dynamic DX Controller

I have this sort of controller on my wheelchair

Dynamic DX Controller.
when I switch the wheelchair on, a red key symbol flashes. If I press any button beside the arm of button, nothing happens. If I move the joystick, nothing happens. However if I press the on and off button, the horn blows short, and the wheelchair switches off.
I have tried running a fridge magnet across the control buttons where it says DX etc, no joy. (The engineer suggesting it is locked, and this would unlock it.)
Any suggestions please?

Roboteq?
I know,

that wasnt very helpful.
But I dont have Dynamic so dont know how it works. PG stuff uses a Neutrix charge connector plug that you plug in and turn on and its locked. So this forms the key. One that is the same for all chairs so pointless.

Doesn't just need a magnet (any magnet) sliding across the key symbol .... does it ?

Maybe you magnet is not strong enough.....
Lock/System Status LED
The lock/system status LED is normally on when the system is powered up, and off when the system is powered down. See figure 3. This light will flash green if there is an internal fault, or if an OONAPU fault has occurred. See “Out Of Neutral At Power Up.”
The lock/system status LED also serves as the magnetic locking area, a fea- ture that enables you to “lockout” unauthorized users. For this function, you will need the magnetic key supplied with your power chair. If you lose this key, contact your authorized Pride Provider.
To enable the lockout system:
1. Swipe the magnetic key across the lock/system status LED. See figure 3. The system will beep and automatically turn off.
NOTE: None of the remote lights should be lit.
2. Press the on/off key to turn on the power chair. The lock/system status LED will flash red, indicating that the system is locked. You will not be able to drive your power chair.
3. Swipe the magnetic key across the lock/system status LED again. When the light stops flashing, the system is unlocked and the power chair will return to normal operation.

okay, I worked out that something magnetic had to have touched it in the first place. So I figured, it must be the magnet on my HTC leather case, that holds it closed. So I rubbed it over the key symbol, and it did have an effect. Unfortunately, not what I wanted.
when I wiped the magnet across the key symbol, I got a big zero in the number indicator, and the battery charge was right down to one red flashing light, and now it has a flashing green key.click submit

yes, tried that, just keeps switching between the new state, and the old one. So I have put it on charge, to see if that has an effect (with the charge indicator light being down to one red light).
In bed at the moment now, with a terribly painful kidney infection (orchitis).
Fortunately I have an e-mail address for somebody that dynamic who has been helpful. Try them as well with this information.

Hi, Im from the states and am in the process of buying a used magic mobility Extreme X4 wheelchair that uses the same joystick you have pictured (dx-remg90a). The batteries the guy had in the chair were dead and fortunately my permobil m300 uses the same group 24 batteries and i just got new ones put in my chair so we put my old batteries into the X4.
But once we got the batteries in the chair won't do anything, the joystick turns on but it's essentially locked. The key symbol is flashing yellow, which yours was flashing red and as far as I can find in my research the key only flashes either red or green, so I'm a little confused about the yellow. The guy has no recollection of any magnetic key, he bought the chair used.
My questions are:
1) how strong of a magnet did you end up using as best as you can describe
2) you mentioned you have an email of someone who's been helpful. Any way I could get that from you?
3) Anything else, anything else at all that you can think of that could maybe help?
Thanks
Brett
