Hmmm :problem:

I just downloaded and tried running the CCS software but am getting the same/similar problem...

I think my laptop is the problem.

What happens is if for example I run the CCS software (without PLC connected), CCS software freezes and when I click on the red X it won't close. It's not until clicking on the red X several times that I get a MS pop up box telling me the program isn't responding, close anyway and send report to MS.

If I connect the PL8 the red LED on the dongle lights but the parameters don't load and the CCS software just freezes.

I don't know why it's happening, I'm not very familiar with windows. It's a genuine windows laptop running windows 10 home and was working fine on Sunday when I charged the scooter. Re starting the laptop makes no difference. I might take a vid of it doing it if that's a help?

FFS I actually managed to embed a YouTube video, I thought I'd forgotten already after you reminded me the other week BM.

Sorry it's wobbly cam and portrait. I was trying to balance standing up with one hand on me rollator, the other holding me phone, and my third hand doing tap tappy tap on the laptop.

You have a few different devices using the serial ports. Its finding one that is crashing the ccs software before it tests the other ports.

Go to the device manager. Take note of which port the charger uses. Set the port number in CCS manually to this. Problem solved. Never trust auto anything! Mine does the same unless I choose the correct port number manually. In my case thats com 11.

The CCS ports box gave the option of AUTO, COM 5, COM 6.

But the PL8 dongle connects to COM 3. (I remember now that it always used to show COM 3 in the CCS box)

So I disabled COM 5 and COM 6 and thought that would fix the problem.

It does partially in that CCS now only gives option of AUTO or COM 3.

But I'm still get CRC fault and no data from PL8.

I will try connecting my spare PL8 and spare dongle later.

I've got to pop to LIDL now while I've still got the enthusiasm to go...

Go to the top of device manager.
In the drop down boxes you will see SHOW HIDDEN DEVICES.
Now go down the tree and expand every item.
DELETE every single item that is greyed out... Will take a while
Now plug in the USB dongle FUIM3 and see what port it is using.
Now set the PL8s CCS to THAT port.
Now RESTART the PL8 and the COMPUTER. And finally open the CCS.
If you chose the correct port now load all the presets and say ready to start!
If not, throw away the USB cable and test again.
If still no connection turn the FUIM3 connecter 180 degrees and replug into the PL8 and reopen the PL8 CCS software...

1.125kg
fuim3 adds perhaps about 10g to that
so says the kitchen scale.

I have 6 used PL8 ( and 2 more on the way) , 2 FUMI3 to offer to this forum . They are either version 3.33, or 3.31. All seem to be slightly used (not a scratch of the buttons), and protective film are not peeled off. Cosmetics 7.5/10 or above.

I did check and test all units by loading a BM's preset, and charged @25A for 15 mins , EXCEPT updating firmware versions.

This Taobao extension for used stuffs has little protection for buyer. Due to soaring Chinese ¥(even stronger than USD $) and risk justified, price will be up a bit than expected.

① Version 3.33 @USD $130.
② Version 3.31 @USD $100.
③ FUMI3 @USD $15
④ Version 3.25 @USD $90.(only one)

Shipping of 1500g by registered surface mail @USD $16.(slow boat)

⑤ A few extension boards are available too. A piece of good tools one should grap.. Add USD $14 for the extra shipping weight, if you want an extension board.

Please let me know if you're interested.

That's awesome :worship
I'm really contemplating getting 2 of these for backups. I could get 2 of these for the price of 1 icharger 308duo. I know the pl8 has no support or repairs but for that price I wouldn't really care. An the iCharger is always sill a option if both backup pl8 went bad.

What would you guys do if you were me? Get 1 backup icharger 308duo or 2 used pl8 an jst-xh balance adapters for the pl8?

Can you reserve me two PL8s please Shirley? I'd take the ones with earlier firmware. Have issues with Paypal at the moment, since they are requiring a government issued Photo ID from me to be able to use my account. :cussing :fencing Only problem is I don't have a passport or driving license. banghead

I have had no problem YET with Paypal asking for I.D. ....

Have you tried ignoring it...or is the account locked?

Did you see a PayPal alert asking you to confirm your identity?
You may have recently seen an alert in your PayPal account asking you to provide some information and documents to us to satisfy EU regulations. However, we only need that information once your PayPal account reaches the receiving limit of €2,500 (or currency equivalent), in total payments received.

And we are no longer in the E.U. and neither is Shirley.

Woody, I can log in with no problem, just can't make/receive any payments until I provide an ID. Tried my Blue badge but that wasn't good enough since it doesn't have my D.O.B. listed. My PA phoned Paypal and explained the issue, but they simply said they couldn't do anything until I have a Photo ID. So had to fork out £75.50 on a passport. :cussing

The Second Payment Services Directive (PSD2)

The Second Payment Services Directive (PSD2) is a new European Union regulation which regulates payment services in Europe.

The EU would love you to believe that they are "Europe" as stated. But the EU is a trade group limited to only those countries stupid enough to sign up. They should have no powers over anything but trade, and they are not a country and so they should not have an anthem, a flag, or a leadr. or any of the other nonsense thay want to believe makes them powerful. Its just another socialist superstate like the soviet union being created against most peoples will. It will all end in tears and poverty eventually as all these socialist things alsways do.

WE are not in the EU like many other countries. And if boris was to actually get us out of the EU aproperly as the majority voted for, then we wouldnt need to comply with EU nonsense. Another example is the EU speed limiters on cars. That we are also going to be subjected to. This Is why I want rid of boris the green EU loving socialist. He is just another Mrs May.

PSD2 introduces strict security requirements for the initiation of electronic payments in order to reduce the risk of fraud. These requirements include Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), which is an authentication process that validates the identity of the user of a payment service or a payment transaction. The regulation went into effect in the EEA on the 14 September 2019, and will start being enforced this year. Most payments will need at least 2 forms of authentication – or form factors – to process a payment from institutions (banks) that issue credit and debit cards. SCA enforcement will be enforced in Europe by 31 of December 2020, and in the UK by March 2022. So, you’ll need to make sure your systems are up to date.
