At Shirley's suggestion, just checked ex-Gooserider's old posts. What Shirley showed above is for the 2.75 rim. For the 3.50 rim the offset is just the thickness of the center plate, with the deeper (valve) side toward the outside. The difference between the two offsets is approx. the difference in width of the 2.75 and 3.50. Shopping around on AliExpress found them for little more than $30 each, shipping to Italy by e-packet included as long as done as 2 separate orders. Ordering 2 at once, can't go e-packet and shipping adds quite a bit (weight limit for e-packet?).

Hi Shirley,

Will you be able to get me a pair of those one-piece rims for 3.50 - 4 tires? I tried searching Aliexpress and Alibaba and found only split rims in 4". If I can't go tubeless, I will use the same plastic mountain board wheels and tubes I now have on Rachi's chair - they've worked well and as I had to buy 4 at once I already have an extra pair of them.

Ciao,
Lenny

Apart from previous 2.50-4,
3.00-4 , 3.50-4 ,

you may have 4.10/3.50-4 (260mm *88mm),
4.00-4 (280mm *95mm)

All are less than €10.00

Thats the one I use (with the big pins all at one end), two each of the outer big ones for main charge cables, the inner two big ones for balance wires 0 & 8 (red/black) and the 7 small ones for balance wires 1 - 7. It a 13W6 D-sub connector, shell size 4, which makes it slightly larger than the 13W3 shell size 3 that others have used. Though the contacts for both are rated at 40A pe contact I prefer using them paralleled for higher reliability.

I've not seen the version with the 7 contacts in the centre before, thats not a standard configuration.

You have a picture of an aluminum fender that has a tab on the side, similar to the stock plastic Invacare fender... It was the last one in the post I'm quoting... I have found the stock fender won't clear the wheels I purchased from you, would this one clear and fit the existing fender mounting holes on the swingarm? If so, how much would a pair cost w/ shipping to the US, in estimated US dollars?

It is work to order. Just let jot down the specs.

Mount of INVACARE is just an angle plate.

Very wise.

If lead you should still top up every 14 to 20 days overnight to prevent natural self discharge from causing sulfation.
With lithium every 3 months they should be charged and balanced, then discharged to between 40 to 70% charged for storage.

The stock Invacare mount is an angled plate that attaches to the swingarm with the same bolts that hold the motor on. The stock (plastic) fender is fastened to the angled plate by being sandwiched by a small backing plate.

The stock setup has the fender to low to clear the new wheel, and attempting to make a different mounting looks like it would have clearance issues with the frame, and possibly the inside of the tire / wheel.

The stock fender is also to narrow. The inside width is only about 2.5" / 65mm or so, which results in the outer edge hitting the tire where it curves down... The curve of the fender along the tire is actually about right.

The new 3.50-8 tire is almost 3.7" / 95mm wide...

In the interest of not bashing them up, I would want the fenders to be a little narrower and shorter than the tires so that the tire would hit any obstruction first... (The stock fenders are like this...)

What sort of specs do you need? If necessary, I could try to make a CAD drawing that would have about the rough dimensions...

Specify the chord length and radius of curvature.

A drawing will be great. Costs around £25 a piece.

You actually dont need them very wide at all. Our tyres are curved. The water comming off them does so only from the centre high point. So as long as the tyre centre is covered theres no spray.

Even the much wider salsa tyres would only need a fender extended by 1 inch wider to cover the tyre's centre. But if it rains I go slower! Or it gets dirty. (new chair syndrome. I only use it when its dry. :clap

OK will work on drawing and get it to you later this week - I assume PDF is OK, and that you won't need the native CAD files?

Rough drawing of that I need for the fender - red is outline of the fender, green is tire,

Basically I sized it based on the 3.50-8 tire that is on the wheels I got from Shirley a while back, figuring 12mm clearance between the tire and fender I will probably be pushing the side clearance into about 3-5mm, but I figured that when picking the width.

Dimensions are in mm, and what LibreCAD calculated - rounding to nearest mm is no problem...

The exact profiles are not super critical, especially the width, as long as it has the right size.

I am also assuming the edges on the curved part of the fender will be rolled or folded to get rid of sharp edges, but the mounting tab should be flat.

I have deliberately made the mounting tab longer than will be needed so that I can cut and drill to size.

Please express in form of top of the fender and chord length , instead of the base line and angle .

Also , I recommend it to cover the entire tyre width.
