Drive from wheelchair vans...

Postby Burgerman » 13 Jul 2010, 22:46

Here are a couple of photos from the UK Mobility Roadshow the other week.
Will write about these when I get chance but in the meantime ask here if you want! The general descriptions are in the image file names...

They are all a bit big but will be sorted out later. I actually went to look at the lowered floor VW caravelle vans. Because the build quality makes my van look sad.

Some nice looking vans there. What are the makes in pic#1 brock miller and pic8&9 with the two rear foldup passanger seats and do ya know the pass thru space between them?
Is that little Kia further down your list real short or too narrow for the same fold up rear seats?
Thanks

Hi John, could you possibly phone me as I am really interested in your web site and your comments about vehicles etc. I am no longer able to transfer into my car. I have bought a Kia Sedona , but because I have long legs the vision from the wheelchair is limited, and I am not able to drive at the moment. This means Maggie, my wife has to push me up the ramp- not ideal- into the Kia, and drive me everywhere. I had a demolition accident in September1971, and broke my back in two places, and am paralysed from the waist down. Turning 70, but I still want to drive., perhaps you could email me your number and I will phone you if that is ok. Happy Easter. Regards Tony Scrivens. 01451 822773. Bourton-on-the-Water,Glos

I really dont do phones. But you really need to speak to the companies making these things. The best bet to see whats p[ossible and to see whats new and available is to go to the Mobility Roadshow.

You ideally need a decent powerchair, driving from a manual chair isnt much fun.

Register here http://www.mobilityroadshow.co.uk/

You will need a long time so get there early! Gather 101 brochures and cards, then contact the companies you are interested in and they will bring vehicles to you to evaluate. And discuss ways of paying for them. I am not the right person to ask.
