Leaking air bags on air suspension

Postby Johnmayfield » 27 Jan 2013, 00:23

My airbags on my Dodge are leaking so the air pump is working overtime. Does anyone know which airbags ear used and can be obtained?

Air suspension?

No idea. My dodge uses stock tow package suspension and is raised an inch at both ends.

Try calling one or two of the companies that convert them. It must be a rear door one?

On our Vantage conversion, the air suspension springs are a pretty standard item. I'm afraid I don't have the information, but if you jack the car up and deflate the suspension, the label should be visible. Ours lasted about 12 years, and the replacements now have about 3 years on them. We keep them pumped up pretty hard here - 90 psi - as roads can be VERY irregular and the car easily bottoms out. Google for "air suspension uk" and you'll find various companies that supply and fit airbags, mostly for custom modifications. Pick one near you and go see them. By looking at it they should be able to select the right bags and install them, even if that means some minor adjustments to the mounting brackets. I used http://www.rayvernhydraulics.com/ some years ago when I had the same problem. They looked at the car and sold me the right bags, which I then had fitted at my local garage. Also try:

Success at last.
My Dodge is now fully road worthy. First, I had to find out which firm had converted my car to carry my wheelchair. I thought that it could be an Activan, and contacting David McMullen (800-955-9086 EXT 427
Fax # 785-827-3017) of Eldorado International, who took over Ricon Activans and now produce Amerivans based in Salena in Kansas. I asked him to send me photo of the airbags used in Activans which they had in stock. This airbag was not like mine so I realised this was not my van.
We then removed our air bags, and saw that they were made by Firestone, but all part numbers were so corroded that they could not be seen. I then went to the Firestone catalog which have drawings of their airbags, and found that 'W02 835 2012' was similar to mine, and by looking at the given cross references, saw it was made for Vantage, another type of conversion, and when ordered from a firestone stockist,we found they fitted perfectly.
We then found that the height sensor valve was leaking, Again David was able to suggest a replacement valve made by Haldex. I was able to obtain the latest model RC Height Sensor Valve part number 'L25051' from 'Fleet Wheel Co Ltd' suppliers to the bus and coach industry. I hope that this will help others in a similar quandary like mine.
