value of my car

Postby DaveC56 » 21 May 2015, 14:43

VMI Chrysler Town & Country Touring registered 2012 only 3000 miles in Black, fitted with Driver and passenger EZ-Lock system.

I'm thinking of selling but would like some idea on a realistic value please.

Depends a lot on what country.

And on what mods. And most importantly what condition.

For e.g. mine is almost indistinguishable from new. Except its actually cleaner. And is 9 years old. And has 9k miles. Perfect paint, polished and clean underneath and engine bay. Ramp unmarked. Carpets as new. That's worth a whole lot more than a typical dirty 9 year old van.

You should be able to find comparable prices on the mobility van websites in your country. A lot of them like to hide behind the "call for price" flimflam, but you can usually find a couple with the integrity to post their prices. Your van is new enough that you should see several of approximately the same age that you can use get a good idea of what yours retails for. Then knock a few thousand off (if you want to trade it in) or add a couple of thousand (if you'll sell it privately).

Is it? Its all I need. I only use it if I need to carry something (model planes to the field, gardening stuff, etc) that I cant do any other way. So its essential, but not often. And never in winter unless to a hospital/doctor or something.

I have often weeks or months of non use in winter. Avoids the salt, too damned cold for anything fun, and I am surrounded by warm pubs etc. And I do 40 or 60 miles a week in summer. Odd trip to airport, mobility show etc. I am a very fair (warm weather) weather person. I hate the cold. I have to walk the dog miles in winter regardless, which I hate!

But my chairs get me about most of the time perfectly fine!

http://www.wheelchairdriver.com/images-beach/ Took the dog to the beach yesterday. It was sunny, warm, about 4pm, and as you will see its absolutely packed with tourists...

Also picture of the van I went in. And if you look close you will see its clean and has a few rain spots :o

You will also note that its tidal. And the sea is missing!

Mines LHD too. Because its 30k brand new, instead of 57k for a RHD one. Cant say I care which side the wheel is though. I never bought mine to sell. But if I did then the LHD bit would mean it will need to be a bit cheaper. Because for reasons that baffle me, LHD scares most people away.

I would say you should get a very good price provided you find the RIGHT buyer. Or you will struggle to sell at even a low price. Not an easy one.

What colour? Trim? Engine? Mods?

Might even be interested myself if the price is very right...

One question. VMI do not or did not used to cut the door pillar. Meaning its not as wide inside and the wheelchair tyres hit the door pillar. And it stops easy access and means you cannot get straight on aligned with the wheel. Esp with wider chairs. Is this still the case? Because that would rule it out for many of us. Its an extra 5 inches each side.

This also shows the problem. The pillar is wide at the bottom and my wheels hit this when attempting to get square on to the driving position. So you end up at an angle. And not centralised. Although it looks less prominent in the newer vans.

The seat shot shows the problem I have. On Rollx or Braun and other vans when the side door is closed the inside of the door pillar is almost flush with the door panel. So you can put your rear wheel right where it needs to go.

They make the door pillar thinner so the floor is wider by a good few inches. I wouldn't be able to fit my chair there square to the steering wheel. I would be either off centre, or sat at an odd angle. Its why I never bought either a Paravan or the VMI van. It affectively makes the floor narrower at that point and gets in my way.

When side door is closed, the plastic trim is only about an inch and a half proud. And flush with front door carpet.

My pampered van today, 9 years old and the ramp is still clean. Never saw a winter road.
