no vat on new car?

i am buying a new car and plan on having either swivel fromm elap seat or the brackets adapted so the front door opens further. should i get vat excempt on this?

The whole car, is zero rated as long as it has "substantial" (not just hand controls) modifications intended to allow a disabled person to drive.

But you cannot do it later.

My last three cars have been zero rated and the only adaptation to the car was hand controls. They have to be fitted before you pick the car up to qualify, so the garage has to fit them and charge you.

Its debatable as to weather simple hand controls are adequate. I had this discussion with the VAT office when I wanted to import a corvette from the US.

If they are complex, electronic, or require substantial car modification, then yes. If just simple bolt on then no technically...
