Has anyone got any tips on how to get a clean screen - recent bad weather suggests my Grand Voyager may need new wipers, but maybe not if the fault is easily remedied.

Detergent, rinse, dry off with leaf blower and soft towel. And use car wax. I wax all of my windows and never even use the wipers unless I really have to do so. The rain then naturally beads and just falls off as you drive.

Alternatively I use very expensive plastic polish for powerchairs, glass windows and van paintwork... Called plexus that is truly amazing... No smears or residue and a perfect shine. You will be amazed. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-Plex ... erchandise


Then clean in future inside and out with just a water droplet spray to mist it and a clean dry hand towel. Mine in all of my last 6 cars over 30 years or so have always been totally spotless. I am a detailing clean freak! Just like my powerchairs, bikes, etc...

I might get some of that stuff. I keep buying new wipers and trying different additives.
The wipers judder on the way up and wipe on the way down. Some sort of tension problem?

I generally attribute that to the way the wiper blades park.

After the final, downward sweep, they park with the wiping edge upwards. They then spend most of their lives pressed against the screen in that position.

On the upward stroke, they should "flip over" and drag the blade rather than push it but, after a time, they develop a reluctance to do that. The up stroke - or a large part of it - is therefore completed with the wiper's edge leading. The "juddering" is basically the wiper-arm resisting the blade's half-hearted attempts to flip over as it sweeps over the screen, wiping edge first.

It doesn't judder on the down stroke because it is dragging the blade as intended, instead of pushing it.

I'm sure that tension has a part to play in that but, since the problem is more pronounced on older blades, I suspect it has more to do with the composition of the rubber used and the way it seems to loose some of its flexibility with age.

Just bought a can of plexus and had my carer polishing my chair last night... Wow, what a shine its given my new chair. Truly great product.

The stuff is amazing. Try it on glass! I do all my house windows, as well as my vans paintwork and powerchairs with it. Kind of a miracle polish...

Makes car wax and furniture polish, glass cleaner all redundant. Shame it costs a damned fortune...

Sounds like a product worth trying. I have an '07 Chrysler 300 right now and will be trading it in soon for my first van. If it can help make it look that much better for trade-in that would be great. Especially if I can do just about every surface with it. So, how far do you think a 13oz can will go? If it's close I may as well get two.
