Remote Button Burnt Up

Postby Rye » 29 Mar 2015, 02:52

The remote button for opening and closing my van ramp has burned up on both of my wireless remotes. Any suggestions on the cause? The Lock and Unlock are fine.

Burned up? Doesent seem possible with tiny watch batteries. Any pictures?

There is black discoloration on the door open button on both of my remote switches.

That's not heat.

Its dirt, oxidation.
Clean the REAR of the button with a cloth.
Clean the oxidation/dirt from that board with a scotch-bright cloth, or some extremely fine glass-paper. Reassemble and it will be as good as new.

Burger I cleaned it up and tried it but nothing happened. Then I opened it and the black was back. The problem is with the door open buttons on two separate remotes. Coincidental maybe...but seems funny that all the other buttons work on both remotes.

I'd look on the receiver to find out what make it is, contact the manufacturer and see if a replacement remote is available. If not, or you have to replace the complete system, here's an inexpensive option: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4002
