Hi,

I have a 1995 Dodge Caravan Braun Entervan. It runs really well for being 16 years old, but I am having problem with the sliding door. The power door is very slow when it is being used. I tried charging the battery, but the door is still very slow. I tried replacing the main battery on my van, but I am having the same problem. I can only guess that I need to get an new battery that operates the door and ramp.

I'm the second owner of the van, but I'm not sure when or if the battery was replaced.

Does anyone know where is the battery located in the van that powers the door and lift?

Does anybody know what kind of battery I need for the door and lift?

Thanks!

The only battery on the van is the one that starts the van. What makes you think its a battery problem? I suspect its the door motor that needs replacing. As long as we are talking about the side door?

Thank you for the reply. I really think that there is another battery that powers the door and the ramp because in the back of the van, there is a small charger that you plug into an outlet to charge and discharge the battery. Also, when I start up the car, the door seems to have more power when opening and closing.

Does this makes sense, having a second battery? When the door is opening, it just sounds like a low battery problem.

Well I cant say I have seen an older one but all the modern ones just use the vehicles battery. But anything is possible. I dont really see the point of an extra one though. It should be easily possible to replace it/find it if there is one.

Another thing to check is that the door tracks are well cleaned and properly lubed. We don't have a power door on our 1997 Vantage conversion, but a clean and lube sure makes a difference for the elbow-grease motor too.

your battery is a bit empty.
Or you need to adjust the door.

I have a backup battery.
check the right side in the tracks .
