Ez Lock & Center Foot Rests?

Postby nld3 » 10 Jul 2018, 01:31

I'm getting an AMYsystems Hybrid R and I have the option for center or standard footrests. I was wondering how bothersome it is when you have a center footrest & the Ez Lock stabilizer bar. It seems you need a seat elevator or tilt to get over it in a Permo? And how cumbersome is that to deal with?

Footrest shouldnt be that low should it? Never had a permobil but also the footplate gets nowhere near the tie downs.

Depends how tall you are and how low/high your seat is. Nothing is straightforward unless your under 5'6!

PS I catch the bolts on the top of mine but it's sitting on 30mm spacers.

I'm 6'1" and my footrests drag on high points and my EZ Lock. I just tilt my legs up to get over it. Annoying though.

Mine is on 40mm spacer rails, so the tie down bolt cab be about 3 inches away from the ground. And centre footplate sits high enough to never hit. I am 5 foot 10. Or was! But I never have my seat set to "level" or I feel like I am falling out of the front. So its about 10 degrees tilt and so footrest is slightly higher because of it.

Not everyone has the same ratio of torso to leg lengths.

Thats true.

This is what I mean by seat angle (about 12 degrees here, fixed, allowing for a higher footplate. Because while the rear of the sat is low, the front edge is high (er). Its still only 17.5 inches here. (Plus cushion). High enough that my ex gf can sit comfortably with 3 inch heels, and still have 4.5 inches space under the footplate.

Those are 10 inch caster. The chairs frame rail, at the low point is 4 inches above the deck. The footplate is higher angled upwards.
