Greetings from Germany

Hi guys,
I ended up here because I want to help an electric wheelchair user who is not tech savvy. It started with a 3D print to protect his feet from the hard edges of the transportation rails. He has MS, neuralgia in his feet and spasticity. Now, when I visited him again, he told me that his electronic wheelchair (Vermeiren Ceres 4) stops halfway down his hill.

When he drives up the ramp with the wheelchair in his van, it only goes backwards....
I'm here to find experts who might be able to help me with my wheelchair technology questions. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge.

I have some experience with electronic as developer (HW / SW)

Best regards,
Frank

Greetings from Germany
Now, when I visited him again, he told me that his electronic wheelchair (Vermeiren Ceres 4) stops halfway down his hill.

Thats not a wheelchair its a scooter right?

Do we mean DOWN the hill?
That cant be many things.
One loose battery terminal.
Another is that he has fitted those terrible lead replacement drop in lithium batteries and the downhil regeneration causes the BMS to disconnect the battery.
Is there any error code, does it restart, does it lose power, etc???
If you mean halfway UP a hill then it can be commonly that the power module overheats and rolls back power. Doesent turn off, just wont "go"...

When he drives up the ramp with the wheelchair in his van, it only goes backwards....

So wheels spin?
Or lacks torque?
Or what exactly?
Could be failed slipping gearbox, worn out motor or brushes, etc.
Could be damaged throttle pot.

Hi thank,
you very much for your fast response and the tip for the correct phase - it's a scooter.

I explained it deeper in the post:
https://www.wheelchairdriver.com/board/ ... =2&t=12823

I havent measured but i think the gradient is to high ( 7° in manual / the street has an angle of 15-24 degree. (only 10m long) as he can go the half mountain - i think this is caused by the 10s Power boost - after this time its standing still.
could we please continue this conversation in the post?

Best regards, Frank
