Hello I am from Ohio in the US.

I'm an incomplete quadriplegic since the age of 19. I've used power chairs since 1983.

Recently, I got a new power chair through Medicaid and I live in a nursing home. This is my second Medicaid chair. But, this experience was remarkably different from my previous one.

The chair is a Quantum Q6 Edge with which I have had no prior experience.

My previous two chairs were Invacare's. The Quantum vendor tried to modify the joystick so I can more easily reach it. But, three months later, I am still having problems.

I have been injured twice using the chair. The first time the rear caster got caught on a beauty salon chair and I ended up bashing my right leg against the salon chair. Suffice it to say, I still have a black and blue bruise on my knee. The next injury was to my foot because of joystick control problems.

The vendor is going to try again to lower the joystick. It just seems like everything I need done is too difficult for the vendor to handle.

I just thought this forum today and thought I would check it out.

Welcome to the forum. I lived in Ohio for 18 years. I didn't know Medicaid paid for wheelchairs, as I thought you had to be on Medicare. Lots of information on this site.
